Not all mod users are into NSFW mods.
But tbh SE is already "tolerating" mods because they can't watch whats in the user's pc. So there's no point into alowing mods, if you want them just use them that's all and that's your problem if something gets wrong.

Yeah, no. You don't own the game just cause you pay the sub. You don't own a single pixel/polygon. You don't own the code.

So back to my example, sure it's maybe not the "real" mona lisa in this case. But they hand you out a copy to look at it, you still don't own that copy but then you smear all over it with crayons.

You own neither the original nor the copy, the only thing you own is the temporary access. If you think as soon as you download stuff you own something you are really...dunno...i guess all the music labels would like to have a word with you in that case.

Stop putting words on my mouth. Who says anything about owning something? I just corrected you on how mods are not modifying the original items.

If anything, your example is the bad one to start since a famous painting is different than asset from video game.

Right which is why I asked the question I did. To me it feels like the OP is trying to create a pigeonhole to be used later by people that wish to use gameplay assistance tools.

The problem is that someone from SE would have to curate any allowed mods, to determine what's safe across all of the regions where the game is available.

FFXIV is not just a Windows PC game - it has a Mac and Playstation client also. These mods you suggest are PC only.

Also, these mods can often result in unforeseen glitches or game crashes simply because they put so much strain on the underlying game engine.

Personally I love FFXIV because it is mod free and I wish it was kept that way - I wish SE would enforce the policy instead of playing it softly softly. There lack of enforcement has simply resulted in people assuming that's it's fine to use them.
