Upcoming wipe/drama fest 8/13/2021

Considering how many of our own WF raiders actively use ACT on stream and have had nothing happen, I doubt these guys will see anything either.

Beyond that though... why do you care? Why would any of us care? They're a pre-formed group of people with the same goal in mind, wanting to do our hardest content together. Why would that cause drama whatsoever among XIV players, aside from people like you who just seem overly obsessed with and way too invested in WoW players and what they choose to do?

There is a reason FF14 remained in the shadow of other MMO's for so long and it is this attitude. When you have certain people play your game and give the thumbs it actually does not matter or have you not noticed a MASSIVE up surge in population since July 3rd when Asmongold started playing the MMO and made it the top Twitch sub category and done wonders for his own channel.

Having not just hardcore raiders but hardcore sponsored raiders try out FF14 and go through a brutal wipe fest and make no mistake this is going to be brutal is going to send a signal to a lot of WoW raiders on the sidelines that the door is open. If Asmongold opened the door for the casuals/mount collectors/glamour collectors then this is the door for the top raiders.

Just 1 month ago when Limit Maximum was doing world first progression in Mythic Sanctum of Domination their channels got around 200,000 people watching their prog. You better believe even in Japan the raid design team is going to be aware of this and be interested.

Would you prefer I post about male vieras? That seems to be popular on these general forums. I tend to post about things that I know will affect FF14 on a bigger level. Having a very large audience watch what is technically supposed to be a casual playthrough of FF14's hardest content but with things that are taboo might force Square Enix to write down an actual policy on addons instead of these weird grey area Youtube videos we keep getting with interviews that you have to parse every word in between for the actual meaning.

All these threads do is gatekeep why should we care that a bunch of people have boosted and are doing raids.

It's not going to be a smooth transition.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating: WoW raiding is mostly about brute-forcing content. Yes, mechanics matter a lot in the beginning, but the moment you begin to widen that gearscore gap even a little, things become easier. What's more, it's very much a game where the strong can carry the weak(er) - even in the highest-end raid settings in WoW, there are people in raids who are significantly better than others, and they pick up the slack.

By contrast, ultimate raiding in FFXIV is much more about personal competency and accountability than individual power. It's more akin to a marching band or a ballet - a carefully choregraphed dance, where even one personally screwing up dooms everyone. There's no helping that one schlub who runs the wrong way, or forgets the timing, or loses track of the boss abilities - and you almost always wipe because of it. And that's very different from WoW.

I get that they're streamers and high-end raiders but whenever I, someone whose MMO experience is very XIV-centric (the only other MMOs I've played longer then one-to-two week are XI and iRO), hear that a new player (regardless of their MMO history) is story-and-level jumping just to get to the high-end raids, I makes me think "Is that it? Is that all you're going to do? You're not going to have much to do then." Especially with how so many of our own high-end raiders say how easy the raids are (I haven't done any high-end content since SB, so this is secondhand info).

It also makes me worried that they'll go into the end game not knowing how to play their jobs or how the game works and having a miserable time because of it. Especially with the job thing, there's a lot of muscle memory and little things in mastering jobs that even a lot of people who have been playing the game for a long time don't know/notice and have to read a player-made job guide to learn.

I also worry that they'll come into the game with the notion that it will be a one-for-one copy of their MMO. I've never played WoW but from what I hear from you guys on the forums and on the XIV Reddit, fights are/can be radically different: XIV's fights being heavily scripted, meaning everyone only has to worry about damage when its scripted, leading to a more DPS-heavy playstyle for everyone (tanks and healers included) while do mechanics and waiting for damage, vs what I hear about WoW's fights, which are supposedly more spontaneous, with random damage spikes that everyone has to play around (even using things like CC, something that XIV has been dropping more and more).

As for the ACT and UI stuff, that kind of stuff has always been around, with Yoshi-P even going on record saying they can't/won't do anything to those using them unless they are using them to harass other players, it seems like they're just trying to grief the streamer. :B

I don't care if they boost heck my wife did though she did get a lore break down to boosted point by video thanks comicstorion! but yeah let them have fun so long as they judge the game based on what there doing then fair I suspect limit knows what there doing and this maybe more of a test to see if it's worth progressing and maybe even bringing a larger group from WoW to ffxiv. Point being it's a game let people enjoy it how they will and I am sure limits is aware the story is the main point hence my theory this is a trial to see if they can work with the combat high end and if so go from there.

First couple of raids are going to be quite hillarious for all the wrong reasons... but if they can make it through Coils normal and then take down Coils Savage, they've got a chance to do it.

This game is big enough for both the lore nerds and the hardcore raiders.

lol yeah you figured me out I am using my super power standing at the FF14 gates keeping them out of the MMO...... As I explained in the post above yours these are not some small fry streamers with 50 viewers but very established large streamers in the WoW community with a very large amount of authority with opinions that matter to A LOT of people.

If Max gets done with all of this insanity and make no mistake it is craziness you could see a new flood of not casuals but raiders this time around bored out of their ever loving minds in WoW right now. The idea of being able to instantly gear at max, no time gated secondary systems, PVE vendors, master loots, no BS aoe damage caps and no raid trash is very appealing to a lot of people but they have been told for years it is not challenging.

ALSO if Square Enix does not instantly ban them which they won't these same people will realize add ons are allowed but you have to be careful not to cross a fine line. That is actually a big thing holding a lot of people with barely any knowledge from FF14 from trying. I am still waiting on the pvp wave with Savixx trying it out.

SE will never be able to prevent people from using third party add-ons, because they refuse to put any kind of monitoring programs in the game that scan your computer and files. They also are very much aware that killing off stuff like ACT will kill their raiding scene; just as killing off modding will kill off a large portion of the casual playerbase. WF raiders have been using ACT for years on stream with nothing done to them unless it's used to harass other players. You are creating boogeymen because of your own weird obsession with every little thing WoW players do.

Maybe focus on yourself and your own gameplay? It's genuinely creepy how obsessive you are about WoW players so much as breathing in XIV's direction.
