Open plea to the Devs

well, I am entitled, say if I want the nier set to grind for it until its received, there's no hard cap on the amount in-game, if I want an ex mount same thing, there's no situation where you cant get gear unless its event-exclusive / store-bought or old content that you cant get it through gameplay, housing is different, sorry your argument is not valid. If you feel like you are not entitled to participate in a game function then you don't need to worry about housing and need not participate in the discourse, if you haven't been hunting then try it and tell me how it felt, if you have a house I challenge you to lose it, go house hunting, document this then tell me how you feel. If after hunting you still don't feel like you should have a house I will acknowledge your point of view.

You have the same ability to get a house as I do a rare mount.
1. Locate empty plot.
2. Click on sign
3a. Win roll and be happy
3b. Lose roll an repeat steps 1 and 2

There is no situation where you can't get a house. You are free to click on the signs all day and night. Housing is no different then ex mounts. Just keep trying until you get it.

As far as house hunting goes I have plenty of experience. Want to buy some?

not from you but thanks for the offer :), if clicking on signs for hours is gameplay as intended for you, great, it's not for me, this thread was started to relate my housing experience to peeps reading up about it. if you are so opposed to it you can start your own thread and praise the system or reiterate your experience and advice, if all you want to do is talk down on someone plz don't do it to me. Wasn't looking for a conflict but advice

Best advice that can be given is to wait for SE to fix the system, as it's only going to get worse from now until when they do because a lot of the Asmonsprouts are going to get to the point in FFXIV where they are going to want a house, which is going to crank up the difficulty of Housing Ultimate.

Bad comparison, loot is infinite and a player can even try his luck when the content is no longer relevant by being unsynched.

Mounts are infinite, housing is limited in supply. With 0 guarantee one will ever be free when you are around.

I’ve been grinding 1% drop rate loot in games and you have more chance at obtaining that than a small house in a FF server, let alone big servers.

You also don’t see people spamming NEED for hours, or roll at odd hours of the day. You don’t have a timer on when you can loot and roll. If you want to compare housing with something, it’s fine, but loot vs housing is just not the same.

Welp that’s me. At first I thought wards would be generated until I learned what a mess housing is, and how limited in supply it is with nothing to fall back on like instanced housing.

I’m still saving some gil and hope to buy a small plot but I’m on Cerberus so my chances are already low. Wish they could do something about it but I don’t see anything happening in the near future sadly.

This is a very poor justification for a very bad in-game system.
Making players wait for hours and hours to get an empty plot of land, is frankly not the same as a mount. At all. In any conceivable way.
Mounts are tools, and everyone can get a chocobo very early into the game. It may not look as fancy, and people can aspire to collect more, but they have the *functionality* of being able to
get around the game quickly. Imagine having to wait outside of plots rolling randomly to get your first mount, spending potentially dozens of hours clicking a sign just so it won't take as long to get around.
That's the situation right now with player housing.

You're resorting to hyperbole. That's not constructive.

With the exception of the ranked PvP rewards, there are no other rewards in the game limited in quantity so only a certain percentage of players can own one other than house plots.

You want that rare mount that drops in a raid? You can farm it until it drops and you win the roll. The game is not going to go "so sorry, all out of that mount." You want an Ultimate weapon? You're free to go farm Ultimate to it. That others got them in the past doesn't prevent you from getting them now.

So why does this game have that unnecessary restriction when other games that have implemented housing don't? Even LotRO, which uses its version of wards, doesn't have this problem. They add a new Neighborhood to a world when all existing Neighborhoods on that world fill up. Worlds with higher populations have more Neighborhoods than worlds with lower populations so players aren't locked out. And of course it's not a problem at all for games that only use instanced housing.

Why must it be a problem here?

Housing is similar to mounts is that they are both vanity side content. With the exception of gardening to get some crafting mats (which hopefully can be done with the new island sanctuaries come 6.X) The only purpose of a house is to have a place to decorate. You don't "need" a house to do any other content in the game and you can on most servers easily get an apartment to decorate until you get lucky. There are also mounts that are no longer available in the game and no matter how much you grind, you'll never get it. I am not defending the system in any way but the comparison is valid.

And this has been said multiple times but you are NOT SUPPOSED TO CLICK ON A PLACARD FOR HOURS AT A TIME. That is your choice to do that. It took me a long time but I eventually got my first small by walking up to a placard and clicking no more then a few times after checking back every hour or so.
