^ What Wildz said. Get servers that can handle it, then merge them. Don't bottleneck already sketchy servers then expect it to run smoothly.
Ul'dah is not the only problematic zone. Gridania's little pond, along with the Garuda cave. For your information my HP is at Dragonhead & Gridania Inn... so I fail to see your point there.
As it stands - the servers can't handle the stress. The current Ridill server crash is just one small example. Everyone taking a break since the release of Ifrit (after spamming it and getting their items) suddenly wants to come back and kill Garuda.
Order of proceedings should have always been fix servers first followed by a merge. Not merging already clunky servers.
considering SE takes a huge chunk of tokyo's power alone, its probably XI's fault. make them give up their damn server power, and give it to us
Wow i cant believe how retarded some of the people in this thread are.
The issue is primarally Uldah, Yoshi said so himself, hence why new char creation gets locked.
On release there were 4000 (FOUR THOUSAND) people online at one time.
There is a quater of that now, but ya'll stuck in 1 zone messing up that server, crashing the rest.
Or it could be a bug, did you even read the bug reports, some guildleves CRASHED THE SERVER.
Why do people not even read and just think all these people (which there is hardly any) is the cause.
Yes I know this will be a temporary thing - as all patches tend to follow a few hours of emergency maint (in SE history - dating back to 2006), however "server" issues are ongoing until they upgrade hardware. It's like tipping a bottle of coke upside down and expecting the liquid to fall out like a bucket.
I like this kind of response. It's, by that logic, the players own fault for playing the game. Nice. So basically, don't utilize the area's or zones the way we want. Simply put, players each get designated time limits in each zone, and are then kicked in order to maintain a more balanced, less stressed server.
I can only say...Um?

Currently we are using the high spec servers for 2.0 to try and make this stable but the server process code is still current FFXIV code so this max limit reaches before the 2.0 server code.
