Think this is the first time since Cata I haven't cared to log in on a WoW patch day. I'll wait for Shadowlands to get out of beta in 9.3 before I give it another shot, 9.0 was by far the most repugnant xpac launch I've experienced in the game.

Have fun in FFXIV, don't rush- the game starts at level 1 and you aren't going to fall behind.

14 years is one heck of a life span for a game, for most people at least. Some will encourage the WoW hate to flow but at least when I hear that I think... "daaannngg" lol. That's a lot of memories, or at least one would hope :). It's unfortunate that so many feel the need to leave WoW in a way that they do though (rather than a more peaceful drift to find something new and shiny, seems more frustrated driven, at least more often), at least using notes from our recent WoW streamer exodus. Yet on the other hand for it to last longer than the lifespan of most pets (cats dogs, etc). Still impressive. Not as much "sweet" as one may like, but I often view these as a sort of bitter sweet thing. Or a chuckle sometimes depending on how people leave, reminds me of some steam reviews sometimes "this game is the WORST" - player who has 500,000 hours in the game lol (not that I'm suggesting you did that, your post has no element of that).

On a less bitter and far more sweet note, I'm really glad you found a lot of excitement with FFXIV. While I've never not had at least one eye on what SE is doing, having played WoW, one of my most favorite things with their mmos is the job system - not sure about other WoW players but for me the job system is just like "yuusssssssss" lol. Assuming level 45 is your highest class right now you've so much to look forward to! When I had more time I played for the content itself but these days it's more for the story or just to chat with mates, and if 45 is indicative of where you are- and if you're enjoying the story so far, you've a lot of great things to look forward to :D!

I'm figuring.. I'll wait until next year about this time, go back, finish up the 'story,' by then most of the worst should be somewhat mitigated because the expansion is almost over. Honestly, what I miss most about WoW is pet battles, silly as that may sound. I loved hunting them down in the wild, collecting them from various sources.
