Although I understand the reasoning behind it, sometimes I miss having a PM feature.
Some of the regulars here are really neat but there's absolutely no way to get in touch without making it public that you're trying (weird for both sides) or stalking them on their server and hoping they're online (kinda weird aswell).

Agreed. Would be weird to make an alt for that purpose. And creepy maybe? Wish we had private messages

I'll take a million troll threads over another "I heard the community in this game was the best but it actually SUX" thread. These forums are pretty slow anyway so it's not like it really disrupts things.

Yeah, it'd be cool if we had the ability to send people messages but I guess it'd be too much extra work for the moderation team if they had to keep tabs on any problems that emerged through such exchanges. That's likely also the reason we can't have custom avatars.

With that said, I wouldn't particularly mind if people were to send me a message in-game sometime. Though I can understand why some people might find it odd.

The biggest challenge would be catching me at a point when I'm not in a duty or AFK!
