This. I don't glamour rings very often but there have been plenty of instances where they've helped bring an outfit together and a bunch of them have really cool designs (and I would say the same about belts going off of their thumbnails so it's kind of a shame we never see them in game but oh well). My only complaint with them is when I can't buy two of the same one to round out my ilvl because of their "unique" classification. It's a petty gripe though, so it's not the end of the world.

Rings needs a lot of adjustments, they didn't touched the slot because it was visible on the character.
But it's the most annoying slot of all equipment since you're basically forced to choose a ring you don't like or go with a lower ilvl ring.
There's many solutions:
-Add other rings with high ilvl.
-Allow us to equip twice the same ring.
-Get rid of the slot and just display the same ring on each finger.
-Rework SKS/SPS and some stats. Too much jobs are "all or nothing" SKS/SPS.

Respectfully, people like you are holding the game back. It's a ring. Something you really don't see unless you zoom in extremely close. You won't see it unless you're actively looking for it.

What you are doing is holding back the game for something less than probably 1% of the player base care about.

There's nothing "respectfully" about what you're saying. The game designers looked at how many players are using ring glamours and concluded that the system should be left in place.

Whatever you think of that conclusion, it is not the fault of people who just use the system.

My question would be, why do any of the slots have to go in the first place? Why does the playerbase have to give up things they've had since the start because the dev team didn't future proof their game? It isn't players that are holding this game back, it is the game's own damn engine, the foundation it was built on.


And don't tell me they're removing belts because they're not visible on your character anyway. Sure they aren't visible, but that has been the case for what, 7 years now? They're only going away because it's the only way they can expand our character's inventory, because the engine is barely holding together. It's the same reason why we can't have infinite glamour-dresser slots, adding more always brings this game close to imploding.

I wonder if the crafters/gatherers would flip if they cut half of the off-hand slots to add somewhere else. Uh, PLD uses it too but I mean... how many shields you'd need?

The feature is there, so I use it.

With little due respect, there's plenty of people, myself included, that like looking at our characters, and want to make sure what we're looking at looks appealing for whatever situation/setting we place our characters in. Taking screenshots at dramatic angles for one example.

That besides if the producer says "We see enough players use this thing so we're gonna keep it," it kinda pulls the rug out from under your argument of "oNlY <1% oF tHe PlAyErS uSe ThAt FeAtUrE."

I consistently glam a momorion ring onto my avatar’s right hand in most of her glams. I love cool rings in general. Plus, we have an actual wedding ring item. Jewelry is a thing people enjoy in almost every culture. We have a job specifically dedicated to making jewelry. They ain’t scrapping rings, but equipped belts being invisible no matter what you gear? We won’t miss them when stats are straightened out.


As for off hand, the devs initially had mages use off hand slots for wand/shield combos at random levels, but dropped it when Leviathan upgrades happened and BIS for both WHM and BLM became super janky with the EX stuff. That’s why there are zero wands in game after level 50. If there is anything I wish the devs could go back and do is allow us to glam a one-handed wand over a staff. But that ship looks to have long since sailed.

It's still kinda funny to me that they'll have gotten rid of belts twice. First from visuals in 1.0, and now from our actual gear, heh.
