I'm done with Diamond EX Farm and I had 768 totems in my inventory when I finally got the mount. (someone else I've met had 860 tokens)
384 runs around 10 mins, that's 64 hours of farming excluding searching for groups and wipes. Is it enough of "wasting time" for you?

Yes I wish I could get the mount earlier or through another way but that's how the game is.

If every thing you do in the game is a waste of time then you don't enjoy MMOs. Every game is a waste of time.

I don't understand your focus on CLL, OP. Looking at your lodestone profile, it's clear that you've completed the place at least once.
Most of the things that can be obtained in there, can also be obtained elsewhere, except for fragments that specifically drop in CLL.
Mettle? Delubrum gives a lot nowadays. Coins? You can obtain those in the Southern Front. Memories? Both the Southern Front, and the Crystal Tower alliance raids.

If you feel like trying to get into CLL is a waste of time, why not just stop trying to get into it, and either grind the alternative methods (since you mentioned being okay with grinding), or just do something that doesn't make you feel like you're wasting your time?

The gabriel mount is from lockboxes, which can be obtained outside CLL.

1. Get into Bozjan Southern Front
2. Check Social --> Adventurer List to see how many players are around in the same instance to gauge if these players may potentially join CLL in the event it pops later.
3. The most important step: actually STAY INSIDE this instance and RESIST YOUR URGE to head out and in trying to get an instance with on-going or close to popping-CLL recruitment. Do whatever you like while you're waiting. Farming frag, cluster, skirmishes, or even tabbing in and out window while you do something else. You can ask people in the shout chat for CLL timer, but you can generally gauge when will one pops if you pay attention to the adventurer list's time remaining & the age of the instance. Whatever it is, stay.inside.and.be.patient.
4. CLL pops --> Obviously, queue for them. Form a group if you may, but this is entirely optional until you're inside.
5. Commence the duty, be helpful, and clear the content to your joy and your fellow group.

Mission Accomplished.

As long as people are doing CE's the spawn time for Castrum is closer to half an hour, and would never be over an hour unless the instance is closed.
You can also complete it with an absurdly low number of players, everything scales down.

While many people are right about not playing content you don't find fun, let's not pretend simple QoL stuff shouldn't be implemented.

CLL should absolutely be queued for just like DR is, especially since the FFXIV developers have made it mandatory to progress the relic story line.

Just make sure you are doing something.
After Eureka where so many people just sat by aetherytes until an NM spawned, they changed it for Bozja. Now, if you're just standing around barely being not AFK and not participating in the instance you're more likely to get passed up for CEs if they overflow.

Well some of us enjoy this very, very, very optional content and would request that you respect our time as we choose to engage in it. Why you're zoning in and out of these to find the tail end of a party is beyond me. Start up a duty finder. FFXIV gives more tools to create a group then most MMOs. Use them.

Try it early in the morning. Saturday or Sunday at 7 AM server time you'll get a fresh instance and Castrum is much easier with less people.

I can agree with this. The major complaint about DR was that it needed completion of the Bozja story up to CLL (something the devs had said time and time again), and even getting into CLL is a problem. They seemed to have fixed it with DR being q'able but really should go back and do the same for CLL. Especially going into 5.55 when CLL will likely be a bottleneck again.
