I agree with the expectations. In many cases it’s not even that expectations are set too high and more so that they’re just entirely unrealistic. I highly doubt an engine change or a CC revamp is something they’d omit from this, it would be their headline. But these things were very unlikely to be happening.

The biggest complaint I see is that it’s ‘more of the same’ which begs the question why are these people here to begin with. Seems to be a large group of people who just want this to be a completely different game altogether, doesn’t make sense to me.

This was a great step up from the Shadowbringers first announcement. There were some "obvious feature announcement" announcements, but just as many actual announcements and even some specifics I wouldn't expect at an initial reveal. I especially appreciated the back and forth on the stat redenomination/normalization we're going to go through in 6.0, complete with a recognition that it might influence unsync.

I'm especially happy that I didn't get what I, and most of the community, was expecting. Fingers crossed for a limited job coming in 5.5, but that might be a big ask in how foreign the concept is to the rest of the game.

I can't say I'm terribly fond of the "Sage is the other scholar, ast is the other whm" concept, but we'll see how that plays out. Depending on how things are done, and with our history of normalization seen during the Shadowbringers series, we could very end up with two healers again with the illusion of four jobs.

An expansion reveal is meant to excite. "more of the same", isn't exciting. What we got was casual features (Stardew Valley), and sidequests. The story will probably be good, the locations will probably be good, but there was nothing really exciting reveled as of now. I'd like refinements, or improvements. No, I wasn't expecting any of that to be announced, as of yet. It would have been nice to see something cool though.

I have no idea what the problem is with much of this community, with any kind of criticism towards the game, or want of something new, automatically means "this game isn't for you". It's ridiculous.

tbh they did talk about plans for healer rotations and battle system updates with number squish they want 2 of each type of healer a pure healer and a barrier healer rotation

It's the details that matter.

We get more new job: One is a new original-themed healer job.
We get more MSQ: it's going places we never went before and, for the first time ever, .0 story will be the end of the story with .1 and the rest of the expansion being new.
We get more normal raid: It'll be original story that is supposed to tie to a familiar Ascian somehow.
We get more alliance raid: It will also be original story specifically regarding a mystery in Eorzean (Source) lore.

We get new features and changes: no belt, downscaling stats, data center travel, island sanctuary, new gold saucer content, PS5 version.

"More of the same" is just such a reductive criticism it's basically not a criticism and just stating the obvious of what we will get in the new expansion of this game that has been going on for years now. It's like criticizing that we get a level 90 enemy to face with our level 90 character in the new expansion (more of the same, just like we get to face level 80 enemies with our level 80 character).

I mean, its not good to show off EVERYTHING at the same time anyway. Need to give people room to breath and process the 1st half of new information.
Plus if you reveal everything, well before the planned release date, then people have nothing to be excited for, they already know everything.
It just makes sense both in and out of a Marketing standpoint

Sometimes the "Criticism" towards FF: XIV has been "WoW does this, FF should be more like WoW" and that sets people off and rub them the wrong way because they like FF to be unique and NOT copy WoW. At least not completely. And alot of times (just from my experience anyway) the criticism comes from WoW players, which furthers the Animosity.
And then even WoW players talk about how bad WoW was for a while, so for them to come here and say "Be like WoW" just sounds like sabotage.

I might only be lookign at this from an extreme view, its what Ive observed with the Community.

I was expecting a new job, a healer specifically. I don't know about FF lore, so it not being Geomancer or whatever didn't bother me.
We get more MSQ? Yeah, duh? Lol?
More normal raid(s)? Yeah, duh? Lol?
More Alliance Raid(s) with an original story? Yeah, duh? Lol?

They literally removed belt to reallocate inventory space. Confirming just how bad things are. Downscaling stats, primarily because numbers were too big and it caused bugs, so that was fun. Island sanctuary, gold saucer "snowboarding", is literal trash content, frankly. PS5 version, obviously. Datacenter travel, can be cool, will destroy economies, but I don't really play the MB game too much, so cool!

I'm anticipating the reveals later, closer to expansion. I do like the same, I'd just like to see more. I was almost excited when I heard about PvP, until "casual and immersive" was mentioned.

That too. Always referring to WoW players. Everything is blamed on WoW players. This is my main game. I BARELY played WoW! I never played it as a kid, I played it late in Legion, on sale. I also only did low level PvP on primarily priest or whatever. That's it. I know almost nothing about WoW. Any criticism I give, comes from a place of love. Contrary to popular belief I actually want this game to thrive. I can just be hyperbolic sometimes, and I get frustrated at times. So what? I wouldn't feel that way if I wasn't passionate about it.

Details of what? We get new MSQ, and raids EVERY SINGLE expansion along similar lines. What "point" are you even making? We all knew they would add quests, like seriously? We have known for quite a long time that they would be concluding this arc.
