Unexpected error nvwgf2umx.dll kernel32.dll and ntdll.dll

Update: last night the game (only the game) crashed again, with the following, usual error:

An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.

This happened while I was in the Southern Front of Bozja. On my computer there is no software installed that doesn't come with Windows 10 Home. The crash occurred while I was using the browser version of Discord, using Microsoft Edge. Since last time I formatted the computer, on Saturday 13th February, no crash has happened, and last night was the first time I played using the browser version of Discord and also while using a USB headset, instead of a jack-USB-powered speaker. Unlike in the past few weeks, it didn't crash multiple times, but only once, so it does seem that the game is more stable.

Another thing that I changed a few hours before the crush occurred, last afternoon, was the "Enable VSync" option on the NVIDIA control panel from the default "Use the 3D Application setting" to "On". After the crash reported above, I changed it back to its default and no further crash occurred.

Any thoughts on possible causes? It would be useful if Square Enix could translate the error codes above in something a human can comprehend.

I actually did this and the game worked for a few days... Then stopped again. Now its constantly crashing again

Sadly today it crashed again, while playing on my own, with speakers on and nothing in the background. This is the error:

The game was in full-screen mode, and I had disabled already Windows Game Mode. However, just a second or two before the crash occurred, a Windows notification about "finishing setting up" something popped up, which caused the game to flicker a bit (it always does that when you try to alt-tab away from the game while it's in full screen mode). I don't know if the subsequent crash was a mere coincidence, but I thought I should say this. Normally if you alt-tab the game from full screen mode it doesn't crash, mind you.
