February 5th Announcement, Realistic Expectations Thread

An announcement of the title which will likely be forespoken. An announcement of some of the features and the main story arc. A short trailer.

Then 5.5 show off Nier and final relics, Bozja zone etc.

Why would that stuff when they are already gonna show that exact stuff in the live letter that comes 4 hours after the announcement stream (Unless people forgot that the announcement stream and the LL are separate events)

If i were to guess i would say

-New job/s
-6.0 trailer
-title of expansion
-The next limited job (If they do another one)
-Hint for next raid series
-Announcement that they are working on fixing ronso hair situation and the hat situation for both races

I don’t know, maybe I’m being too pessimistic, but I’m just so used to dissatisfaction from the dev team that it doesn’t even faze me anymore...and I just expect it. So when yoshida says “feel free to have high expectations” for February 5, I can’t help but see that as a troll statement.

I still wish for Encyclopedia Eorzea III, I think this is more realistic

For the rest of unrealistic:
Viera Male, yeah
an instanced housing, especially granted via the MSQ
number of glamour plates matching the number of jobs
PS4 will probably be dropped down the road, but not during this expansion. Players need to move first and with the scarcity of PS5 that's just not doable aotm.
Limited jobs becoming full jobs
Another companion, non-chocobo (like what was just announced for ESO)

This is the first time Yoshida explicitly said “have high expectation”. So I think mine is quite high and I will expect one or two of the unrealistic ones from the OP’s bucket.

While I do think that a complete overhaul of the character creation/character models is unlikely (sadly) I don't think it's really all that unrealistic to expect more/new options in character creation. Particularly given that it's very unlikely we'll be seeing new races, and probably not even new gendered body types for existing races, I do think a reasonable trade off would be to see at least a few more options for the races we do already have.

Oh they might announce ishgard housing at last.

Can I just ask.. why everyone seems to think that ps4 support needs to be dropped? They haven't even fully used the potential of the ps4.. and please don't tell me it's for the "graphics update" because it was explained that the reason that won't happen is because too many people are using out of date PCs, and they'd lose a huge amount of their subscription base if they raised the minimum requirements.. so.. kind of doesn't make sense to push for Ps4 support drop..

as for expectations..

same as you would get from fanfests 1 and 2 in a normal expac cycle. and a live letter for 4.5 part 1. Same as always.

While I agree with you that wanting PS4 support dropped is silly at this stage, you're wrong about the graphical update, there're prettier games with lower requirements, it's more a combination of the engine as is so often mentioned and simply when they chose to simplify the graphics for 2.0 they didn't make high textures and lower them, they just made low textures, it's why they can't give the converted "HD texture pack" as there are no HD textures to give.
However, they've said at some point the engine would need to get looked at and that would be when the graphics and character creator and other core systems would get a pass too, as it just made sense. So that's the deciding factor, at what point they feel it's time to make those evaluations.
