I take it you did not enjoy the 150+ quests leading up to level 50? If so, I've got some bad news for the rest of the story progression...
It's all quests. All the way to 80. And when you get to 80, there are even more quests.
Shocking, I know.

It was the original endgame. Every segment of content has the initial release where you gain levels (50 in ARR, 10 in each expansion), and then 5 major patches that continue the story over the next two years until the next expansion comes out. When it's current, you wouldn't get any EXP from those quests. ARR admittingly has the slowest and dullest patches, but it is what it is.
What you'll learn with FFXIV, after every initial MSQ within an expansion.... There is more quests after you pass the credit sequence for that story line. So pretty much: Finish 2.0 -> 2.55 to access 3.0 -> 3.56 to access 4.0 -> 4.57 to access 5.0 -> 5.5, etc.
When we initially started in 2.0 beating Ultima and reaching that far was our endgame till patch 2.1
It's a story driven final fantasy game. Of course every expansion has story patches until the next expansion arrives.
You now reached the end of the initial add on and now progress through the patches that lead to the next expansion.
If you don't like story driven games then you will not like a big portion for this final fantasy game.
I also think it is just a troll post.
