Making People Wait Months To Purchase EX Mounts Is Silly

More “It’s my money, and I need it NOW” mentality... This is coming from someone who runs the extremes on release 100’s of times. I don’t like waiting on spending 99 totems either so I farm it til I get the mount. There also isn’t very much content that’s extreme/extreme+ difficulty. Which happens to be the only content I care to run most my hours playing. So please people...PATIENCE!!! Run it over and over or wait a few patches after you banked your totems. The current system is already the “forgiving” one. There once was a time where totems weren’t a thing. Be grateful.

I see this theory every time and I'm fairly sure it's off the mark. I doubt a notable majority are farming past 99. Maybe 1% of players at most go past that because they really want the mount. The rest either stop at 99 or wait for the Echo and boosted drop rate.

Encouraging players to spam past 99 every trial actually reduces content lifespan in the long run anyway, because it burns people out and even carries risk of them unsubbing for a bit. Or they simply don't bother in the first place because it's not worth the effort. There's such a thing as dangling too small a carrot too far away.
Allowing a 99 totem exchange from the start might actually entice more players to do the farm and make it more active. Right now EX is fairly inactive compared to Savage or Normal DF.

I'd also consider adding a totem exchange for the crafting mat, which might encourage more activity.

That would be very cool to see.

Honestly, if they want content to last longer they should go back to the old way with no way to buy mounts. People kept running it for longer in addition to content seeing a resurgence when drop rates got nerfed.

Leave the totems for the weapons and maybe crafting mats.

No its i work for it and others get it for free on their first carry, if lucky. Its like saying "yeah go and clear that savage but you wont get lv 530 gear/weapons until 5.5 hits sry"

Except its a mount lol. It’s the mount game, RNG... it’s meant to be like that or these mounts wouldn’t mean anything and the content would die. Look past your own “wants” for a moment. Think about those that arrive late etc. Outside savage and ultimate which 90% of the time are ran within a static, Extreme’s are the ONLY content at its difficulty you can readily pf on repeat. Leaving it as the one and only non-braindead content you can run in pf with little to no coordination. I probably wouldn’t play this game without that content to spam on release tbh. There’s just nothing else lol.

Imagine if, after 1,000 runs, you have bad roll luck and some random who gets the clear achievement gets the mount at the same time? You'd start to resent the game. I've lost many a roll of the dogs to new players getting their achievement. I carried on.

I think 99 is a fair asking, it's enough times to involve a grind and plenty of time (finding a decent farming PF is time enough) but also very few amount of people do this.

Looking at mount stats from a achievement tracking website, only 20% of people with their achievements public (aka not hidden) have the mount. You can easily kill Shinyu quickly and you can buy it but still a ton of people don't bother to do it.

Same with Suzaku, which you can kill much quicker. Only 21% of people with public achievements have the mount which you can easily purchase for 99.

kamuy of the Nine Tails, which you get from having all dogs, is the 55th (out of 159) rarest mount in game. Only 31% of public achievement players have the firebird, which is much easier to obtain.

If you seriously wanted to force people to run it longer, you should go the other way.

The mount no longer drops at all and must be farmed via 100 totems. No change or nerf to totems needed in future patches. No more getting lucky after 10 kills farming for your weapon, no getting it within 20 kills next patch. Everyone has to do 100 runs minimum.

What I do find interesting though is how centered the discussion is on dragging out the content and how we must force people to repeat it endlessly and no mention at all of what would be most fun. If it's designed to be a tedious chore, why even bother keeping it alive? That's the ideal way to burn people out. EX's aren't exactly highly popular content lately, even PF Savage has far better participation rates.

Square Enix is a company in the business of making money. As much as Papa Yoshi preaches that you should unsub if you're bored with what content is out, content is designed to keep people playing for longer so they will continue to pay a subscription fee. That is the reality of the situation. Its why raid loot is on a weekly lockout, there's a cap in how many tomes you can earn in a week, Ultimate got moved to 5.5 so mitigate some of the content drought, etc. Extreme primal mounts are no different. It doesn't matter really that you would rather get the mount immediately, so long as a decent chunk of players are willing to keep their subs going for months to keep farming.

They bank on people to keep farming in hopes of winning the drop, then they count on resurgence when they increase the drop rate and put the mount up to be bought for totems.

Well I see this leads to nowhere as we are being selfish for not wanting to wait however long they want us to or being forced to run 500x worst case.

My opinion stays, its pointless, ppl burn out and just give up, run it either later unsync or not at all - or like me, stop at 99x times. If ppl run it like crazy for 1-2 weeks to get 100 kills, its not helping ppl getting there a month later...

99x is enough, remove the random drop and only let us trade in for tokken idc as i still run it 100x. Its no more fun after gettin beaten and beaten and beaten, after you carry ppl through it only for them to get it.

Khloe is enough for later players and you can always make your own party. And i bet the % of players farming 200x or more is much lower then ppl that either give up earlier or stop at 99.
