Yep. During the patch notes, yoshi-p always does a reading of them as you know. And this was noted by a translater on the reddit discord.
It's kinda sad really.
The changes are actually stupid AF, by nerfing the cost of the aetherflow heals the reduce less and less the importance of a good fairy micromanagement which is kinda like one of the core concepts of the job. It feels like devs and players are playing two different games.
okay, i honestly have to ask. Was there EVER a good time to use Dissipate? other then just for lulz? Cause personally i've never use the skill even once.
Dps gains mostly, it was like a 450 potency cd (300 now), some niche uses on ultimate to boost healing too and it can be used as a healing boost when your fairy is out of cds since there you lose 1050 potency worth of embraces that can be compensated with two lustrates
this is so wrong on so many levels
1. Fights barely do damage as is, to the point every encounter can be done entirely (or almost) entirely without gcd heals or aetherflow.
2. Ast ogcd healing is overtuned. With earthly star, CU and CO all on a 1 minute cooldown and all being able to bring the party to full health most of the time; how on earth is scholar going to find a place to heal when AST can fully heal the party every 20 seconds?? To top it off the fairies also give 2 free heals every minute (blessing+whispering), another 2 every two minutes (consolation), and embrace is basically a regen that never stops ticking. Noted that scholar has to heal more when paired with a white mage, if ever so slightly.
now compound point 1 and 2. its almost like the devs are playing a different game
edit: just realized something else. Since broil is stornger now; the opportunity cost for weaving skills is higher than ever. So people are going to be even more averse to weaving heals now. They shouldve buffed ruin ii instead
They basically acknowledged that Scholar is the weakest healer and made changes to tell us that the core problem is that we were simply using it wrong. Stop using Energy Drain and heal more with Aetherflow Charges. I know I shouldn't have had my hopes up for a more drastic change to SCH but this latest "rework" is just sad on so many levels especially in light of how much they invested into making Monk work. Im glad Monk finally got the attention it deserves but healing as an entire role is desperate for that same kind of focus.
It's frustrating to me because I fundamentally agree with the logic of the devs on this, we're just in a bad spot of class vs fight design that makes it muddled in practice. I personally hate the fact that we have this powerful and flexible selection of heals we're actively punished for using but I understand the fact that with the way fights work it's inevitable we'll need to dump the stacks on something due to fight downtime.
