Another story troll thread. Why don't you make a decision either way based on your preferences and leave me out of it. Thanks.
I didn't. I play this game for the story and for essicentally "hanging out" when I'm not raiding or crafting, so I like to know the lore of where I'm at.
However, I won't fault someone for wanting to skip ARR; it's extremely tedious. Or Stormblood for that matter (except the patch bits).
I do have a friend that skipped the story until they started to really get into some of the plot pre-Shadowbringers, so they went back and watched the stuff in the book again.
Just don't level DRK and skip the story and I won't complain ;)
No.
I like knowing the context of the fights and where I am. And seeing as quite a few of my FF friends discuss plot beats, it’s nice to indulge and keep up with a conversation instead of smiling vacantly because I have no idea what a ‘Warrior of Light’ is.
That and cinematic trailers. I assume people who don’t bother with story skip the trailers that rarely drop. And I’d rather be able to enjoy them whilst relishing the story behind it.
Then again, I’m not a fan of skipping cutscenes in story-driven games. I’ve never done so in RPGs and JRPGs before. Not even when I was a tiny lass.
People who have thousands of hours don't even know fights. A lot of "mentors" are worse than sprouts. So I don't put much stock in players who did the story "knowing fights". If only players who use a story skip were the biggest issue when it comes to bad play. If we are talking about story context, the context of what you are fighting, I simply think a lot of people don't care. If a player is willing to initially use a story skip they probably lean that way, for that matter.
It didn't exist when I made my first character. But I wouldn't use it anyway. I play for the story first, gameplay second.
That said, I don't pay your sub. You do whatever brings you the most enjoyment. Lord knows we've got enough going on in the world this year without crapping on each other over a video game.
Nope, the MSQ is one of the most important part of FF14 for me. It has some weak points for sure, but since 4.3, it has been a blast. I can't wait for the Eden conclusion as well.
Why the hell would I pay money during a free trial if I didn't know if I'd like the game or not?
