Yes, but does snapping make half the players and NPCs disappear?
I know that, but it's still kinda annoying if you remember they added a Questline to get the Haurchefant Emote ingame after high Fan demand.
Also, it would work with a 'different' Emote, as this snap is not exactly Emet's (subtle differences). But they just had to market it as The Snap to make people buy it more...
So as I said, I understand the problem with the Korean Server Team and contracts binding them, it just leaves a bitter taste.
I couldn't have been in the game itself because, were it not for the Mogstation, the emote simply wouldn't have existed (or if it did, then any of the emotes we already have wouldn't have existed instead).
Mogstation items are extra things that were created exclusively for the Mogstation. If it didn't exist, then the items wouldn't either.
That is a statement you can only know if you could observe two realities: One in which the shop exists and one without.
But let's go with this way too: If the shop didn't exist, more of exclusive shop-items would be available in the game. (via gil, mgp, achievement/effort etc.)
Also not something one can definitely be sure about... well, unless the one whoever decides to withhold something from the game to make it shop-exclusive ofc.
Look back pre cashshop and after, how many fancy dresses did we get during the whole of ARR?
Not many i can tell you. Certainly less then 5. Same with mounts, just the beast tribes just like now and a few here and there.
We still got some nice outfits each patch my impression just as many in shadowbringers as in arr.
The sudden influx of mounts and outfits is purely thanks to the cash shop. My impression looking at the past we wouldnt have them at all if it wasnt for cashshop.
Unless you know the reality of how game development works, then you have a more perceptional idea of how that other reality would have played out.
In game development, a huge swath of ideas, mechanics, etc are binned and thrown away due to limited time/not being able to fit with the game world. Even without a mogstation, there is little guarantee any of the stuff from it would have ever made it in-game at all. From the short times I worked in game development, the project I worked on binned at least 3x as many powerups and nearly 4x as many ideas for levels than there were in-game by the end product.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if half of the mogstation stuff is all those binned ideas that Yoshi-P and his team couldn't make work/fit into the game for one reason or another for the mogstation team to sift through.
