The Bangaa have a very large snout and also a somewhat humpback posture. Those probably would not translate well to an armor set. They walk on their toes and have bent knees, which likewise would not work with existing character animations.

Nu Mou have a very prominent tail which would be difficult to incorporate, and also similar posture problems as the Bangaa. An armor set based on them might look like a cosplay but would not pass for the real thing.

But nah I could see a "magicked prism (Qiqirn)" being a thing. It'd be a neat reward for beast tribe currencies, to like provide a material to craft bulk prisms. Would make going back to old beast tribes worth something. Give them basic melee, ranged, magic animations, along with the other various movement animations they might be missing and yeah it could work. (would probably be good to have them for future cutscenes too) Just disable them in instanced content (or only enable them in undersized parties for instanced content) and yeah I could see it. This game is sorely missing non-combat toys outside of fireworks.

GW2 does this with consumable potions that swap your model with an existing model, usually with some stupid gimmick to it like shooting fireworks or performing some kind of enemy specific attack.

I don't think the FFXIV engine could do this, I know it does for instanced content where we swap with an NPC for story bits or whatever, but just out in the open? Dunno, the spaghetti code seems to be a giant hamper on how they can produce content and I get the funny feeling a large group of players using a potion like that in FFXIV at the same time would crash the servers... I still remember when too many people toggling their visors would crash console players/servers, can't even imagine how much more stressful a full model swap would be...

I thought Hrothgar and Viera were the limited races? You want races that are even more limited than those?

That... is a very interesting request.

I would prefer they go the other route personally. Make Hrothgar and Viera full fledged races. With their own Hempen sets, access to all headgear and all hairstyles, and of course, male Viera, and female Hrothgar.

When the new races for Shadowbringers were announced, I thought back then that they are limited races.

That already exists. Usually during the Halloween even you get to turn into different NPCs
