Oh, one thing I forgot: From time to time I gave out "glamour challenges" to our static (its more or less an all FC-static and I could easly see this work for a whole FC aswell!) - its a little bit different from a costume contest in the way that we didnt judge those things, we were just exicted to see what everyone came up with and had a good laugh about it! I remember that I once challenged them to "dress up as their favorite disney princess" and guessing who everyone picked was a lot of fun.
Something that evolved out of this was my FC-leader and myself crafting the Company Tabard and Hat for everyone and dying them in a colour that we thought fit their personality best and then sent them to each static-member by mogmail with a short explantion why we picked that colour (obviously being nice and positive about it). I think I did the hats and she did the tabards and we werent talking about what we picked for the others, so for the next raid day everyone showed up in some colourful, not always matching combinations!

I'm really enjoying all of these creative ideas! All your Free Companies sure sound like a lot of fun, I can only hope that I can bring my new members together like all of these ones listed. :)

An FC that mine sometimes does events in tandem with had a "Lawn Darts" competition. Or as I jokingly called it, "Warriors of Dart-ness". (Still not sorry for that one.)
Get people into a party. One person drops a waymark at the base of the Observatorium, and remains below. Everyone else climbs the tower, then leaps off. One who lands closest to/on the center of that marker wins!

We did a relay once where players had to go to (merchant), buy (item) and trade it to the host of the race.
Something like Uldah>Horizon>Vesper Bay>Orange Juice>Gold Bazaar>trade to host player.
Rules were a) in alliance so can see where you are. b) can’t leave zone/use transportation like ferries c) first “leg” of the race is announced before start (eg. Horizon), d) the wanted item isn’t announced until after the race starts. The host should say where to find the item (eg. The tavern to the left in Vesper Bay)

I'm a leader from Cerberus.
I have a mansion that I dedicated to building my own custom events of which some are held outside. The FC house lacked the required slots to do this while still looking nice.
The most popular ones:
Garden jumping competition (to the roof or around the garden or house).
Decorating (you assign a room to this and provide items members may use).
Fashion event (you name a theme and style and members have to get close to that within a certain timeframe. They get a small amount of gil for each round to find the stuff with NPC's or buy on market).
Find the difference. A Cross setup showing 4 sides. All items show the same item but on 1 side that item will be in a diff position. 60 items on each side (items that you can name easily), 30 minutes to find them.
Hide and seek (custom rules), Separate in teams. the host of the event hides in a large area. 1 person from each team searches. If 1 person finds the host he/she will relocated. If each player of 1 team is able to find the house, they win the round.
Prizes are gil based or mog station codes for items or emotes. I invent games like this all the time on the go cuss I enjoy entertaining people.
