VPN to the USA seems to go around the problem (tested with one of my friends VPN accounts) but I don't really want to invest in another subscription for VPN or something like that to be able to play this game when it was working fine up until around the 14th of April. There is a problem that they need to address. Otherwise yeah will be looking at moving on to something else. Cannot play with whatever changes have been made to impact the services to the level they are now.

Your connection is most likely getting hung up at a network hub on its way to SE. Depending who it belongs to there is little SE can do same goes for their ISP and yours. Looking at the tracerts it looks like quite a few of NTT's hubs are suffering packet loss, Only thing SE can do is contact NTT and let them know and if I am not mistaken NTT handles SE's servers and ISP.
