If there are a lot of people and you are not in party it might take a couple of tries to get 10 eggs. If there aren't many people you can get 10 solo. It really just depends on when you are playing and how many fate participants there are. But honestly unless you are trying for a LOT of eggs it won't take long no matter what you do ...
Edit: Just to add, I really love FFXIV"s seasonal events because they don't require you to dedicate an inordinate portion of your life to complete - they are usually easy peasy and so, thank you SQ Enix

How would you even get bronze? I got one chicken and got silver only because I got there right before it ended. The two other times I got gold with very little effort.

If you saw where 1 chicken spawned, stay close to that spawn point and get ready for some chasin'. There's bound to be another one that spawns around that area. 3 eggs initially for quest completion, and 10 eggs after for $#!ts and giggles.

I'm going to be a bit of an echo here but I didn't have any problems with it, I sat around the area while watching youtube and when I saw the chickens I just ran around catching them for however long it is and BAM, eggs. It's not even like you need the eggs for anything as of yet either, the bunny decoration is 5 eggs and the suit is just a copy of what you get for doing the event anyways, I'm currently sitting on 30+ eggs just for part 2 and that was running it about 4 times.

Got Gold from 1st attempt.
And actually found the FATE quite hilarious - 100 brave, respected adventurers chasing chickens in rabbit attires. It won't be as fun in instance as it is right now, IMO.
