Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
We would like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:
1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs.
3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Hello, I'm having the same issue as the OP, and I've tried all these steps and am still getting this error. I even uninstalled the game, and installed it on a separate drive.

mattw89, if you are experiencing the same issue, please create a new forum post with a System Report for assistance along with any previously attempted troubleshooting. To generate a System Report, simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

Hey Mathak,
I posted this on the thread I made, but here's what I found. It's not a fun fix, but worth a try if you have the spare hard drive space.
I still don't actually know what the issue was, but I decided to try creating a new partition and instance of Windows, and the game worked just fine there. I also noticed something weird where, when trying to install a past gpu driver that I know the game worked on, it wouldn't install because 'my version of Windows was not compatible', but I'm on Windows 10 Pro, so something with my install of Windows must have gotten corrupted. I have since reinstalled Windows on my main partition and have the game up and running.

I was having the exact same issue and made the following edit to my registry:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Once there edit the value of LoadAppInit_DLL to 0

The game launched with no issues after making that change. Hopefully you'll see the same result.

Good morning and thank you for the reply.
Kassaria, if you have not done so already, could you create your own thread with a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.' Additionally, please provide any trouble shooting attempted.
