indeed they did, but a majority of FF creatures and lore are inspired by real-world mythology. Shiva, Ragnarok, Excalibur.. Goblins! To name a few

The monsters I like the most are

-Iron Giants (FF9)
-Ochu (FF9)
-Evil Dragon (FF8)
-Chocobo (Tactics)
-and the 3 little dots

Behemoths, tonberries, and the sahagin.

I don't want to count it as monster but I'd say ANIMA!!

I like gigas and gobbies because when leveling and they start to agro it always gives me rush, unless it's happened 3-4 times in the past hour then I'm like wtf.

moombas are awesome too

Marlboro, manticores/chimeras, behemots, and any type of real ennemy (as opposed to beast), like soldiers, beastmen etc.
