Playing FFXIV on GeForce Now Cloud (PC/Steam Question)

Do SE explicitly allow cloud services? Most MMOs forbid it.

At this point FFXIV is not supported on GeForce Now anyway (just because a game is on Steam/etc doesn't mean it will work).
But yeah, if you currently have non-Steam FFXIV like me, you'll probably never be able to play FFXIV on GeForce Now, since Square doesn't allow both clients on the same account and GeForce Now doesn't support games not purchased from a digital store (which is why its pretty useless to me, I mostly buy games standalone).

I was just reading on Reddit a thread about switching between PC and Steam versions of the game. It seems to suggest that purchasing the game again via steam, and then simply logging in with your existing credentials works just fine. You just never register the steam key in mog station, and continue to use the PC version with the steam overlay (and presumably GforceNow); you end up with an extra steam key, but you can pass that on to someone else. I'm looking to do the same thing, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
