Seemed fine to me, though I'm admittedly more on the casual side of things. Lots of ways to die, and die quickly, but very little that will completely wipe the raid. Lots of room for heroics and recoveries and not much of a painful slog.
Yes its a bit too easy... i kinda miss running out of time the first few weeks, now you CLEAR A BOSS with 2 groups down.... like whut??
On the first few hours of the patch, wipes were happening regularly. Basically, the RNG coffer of frustration is floating the chances of getting a competent team, which massively reduces the chance to wipe on the raid because there's more vets than rookies running. Normally, vets stop running as soon as they get their items, but the coffer is artificially inflating that, so it's "easy."
Speaking from experience, this is the single hardest raid SE has ever launched day 1 for FFXIV. The only reason it's not even more punishing is that there's no mechanic where if a party wipes, the entire alliance is going to wipe such as on Ozma or Cid.
From my experience, day one runs of wiping city, dunce cave, ridoranna wipe-house, and we're-boned monastery were for sure harder. To me it felt a little easier then rabanasty(hashbrowns was a beast), but harder then void arc. And i remember some week 1 and 2 void arcs where cucu wrecked runs.
I like the difficulty for the first part. It's a good intro and I think that it would be better if each raid were gradually more difficult instead of one just destroying everyone who isn't prepared. I.e. Rabanastre.
It's the first raid, it'll get harder with the next two presumably
Did you run it day one, or did you just recently run it, because that will make all the difference.
This is the first 24 man raid folks consider worth farming even once they're locked from their weekly gear and that's due to the 2B outfit that is not weekly locked.
That being the case there are groups (or individuals) that are going to be far better than others because they have the mechanics down to an art due to their excessive runs.
Also, all the first tier 24 mans of each expansion were "easy" (although void ark still was the easiest of the four) compared to the ones that followed.
You do know challenging content can be fun too right? How do you think everyone felt beating TG Cid the release of 4.5? for Orbonne I felt absolutely amazing because that fight required EVERYONE to be in sync and know what was happening. That's the joy we need in alliance raids and it was an example the dev team could manage a little fragment of the fun something like BA could offer on a weekly basis. Yeah it was frustrating for some but I loved it and can still do that fight from tells alone.
This raid as a whole was pretty much the same level as Rabanastre to me, which is what Yoshi-P said he wanted to be the difficulty to be. Engels is absolutely the idiot check as it has movements to pay attention to, and an add phase for tanks to handle. Really thought 9S and Engels should have been swapped personally in the order but it's fine since they were both fun. I can safely say this is a raid you can completely recover from Hobbes only needing one alliance alive to complete anyway. So in terms of running weeklies and new people it'll be much easier for them to clear later on then Orbonne.
I hope and I'm sure the difficulty will rise overtime.
