If you're in 260 in castrum you're going to get blown up. I feel sorry for the healer that has to heal you.
Clearly SE disagrees with you, or they wouldn't have assigned that as the minimum ilvl.

260 in Castrum Abania? 270 starts to show its limitations in Bardam's Mettle, let alone Doma Castle.
lol
The dungeon previous to Bardam's Mettle drops 270 gear. It is perfectly valid. The best you can get prior to Bardam's is what, 273 or something? Do you realize how minuscule of a difference that makes compared to 270?
Your issue here with these dungeons isn't the gear, dude.

OP is trying to be cheeky and is basically bringing up an old argument about how an i270 tank in Castrum Abania was super sketchy back during Stormblood’s tenure
I'm so glad you remembered that, at least. It feels like a lot of people here wanted to forget about all that.

(clarification: he thought i270 was fine, but others—mainly people who had healed the dungeon regularly—disagreed)
(clarification clarification: I healed it back then, too, sometimes with tanks that had even less than 270. I was leveling everything. It was still easy. If a tank struggled in this dungeon it was almost always because either they overpulled, they didn't use cds correctly, or both. Can't count the number of times I saw tanks just stand there and bite it to Ketu Slash -- but this even happened to up-to-date tanks, so this was more of an inattentive tank matter than a matter of gear. In fairness it's not always entirely the tank's fault either -- sometimes I would see healers neglect to remove the debuffs that Ketu Slash starts applying, for instance. But hey, now I'm just rehashing pretty much everything I said ages ago so I'll stop now)

It's basically set so you can run each expansions dungeons in unaugmented tome gear (besides perhaps a ring).
51-59 can be done in basic Ironworks
61-69 can be done in basic Shire
71-79 can be done in basic Scaevan
If they're going to use tome gear as the metric, they could at least bump it so you need the upgraded version in the 59/69/79 dungeon.
I'd be totally down with them doing that, particularly because it's really so easy/cheap to augment the gear, it's a useful investment that gives you the most powerful gear available for a particular level cap that other jobs can potentially make use of, and just about the only justification for someone not having done it is them not even realizing that you can.
But still, the fact that they didn't even put 270 on Abania, but 260? It made me chortle. Guffaw, even. Let's say guffaw.

Kind of an empty brag when past leveling dungeons get nerfed. But I guess you need those small victories wherever you might find them...
How was this dungeon nerfed, aside from a greater proportion of players being past said dungeon and therefore knowing the layout/mechanics and probably being maximally geared for it (which isn't actually what being nerfed means, but is nevertheless frequently mistaken for it)? Legitimate question.
