I can understand country restriction for real life prizes. There are a lot of issues to deal with on these cases and it is easier to just not deal with them at all and restrict to a few countries.

But an in game item? Seriously? Can anyone give me one single reason as to why that restriction exists at all?

And of course, when it comes to billing, I can live on Mars and I'm still eligible for payment. ^_^

So it's an internet contest with the prize being an ingame item which doesn't require shipping, that NA & Canadian players (excluding Quebec - wtf?) can only receive?

Yeah I bet that if it was a paid in game item like that FFXI leviathan necklace they wouldn't mind the distance.

Even real life items you shouldnt restrict, there is no need, what it costs an extra couple pennies to ship? There are a few mmos that have done global contents (TERA) with RL prizes.
