Why no 'Backwards Strafe' option for Standard Type Movement?

People complained about he camera since arr is out. I doubt we still see change anytime soon...
I like personally the aesthesics of the movementanimation in standard style but am faced with the same problem that evading aoe takes longer with it especially on controller. The advantage the locked standard camera has however is that it doesn't auto-adjust to the front everytime you look around you like it is on legacy, when you are moving straight. It's so horrible on the eyes to try to keep your camera faced to a direction while moving with the controller, you have to constantly correct the view to keep the focus. To have a simple checkbox for that to disable it would be so good...


But atm the game likes to face the camera in the massive flying wind particle which is attached to every tiny flying mount. Also annoying on the eyes.. I wish you could just see clearly lol the particleeffects are so not needed.

I hope the Devs hear us out this time then... it's something so simple, yet I feel like it would benefit so many people.

Well just try it out tbh, just takes one click. Short version: Standard puts your camera always behind your character, you cant rotate it without moving your character the same time.
In legacy you have full control over camera and can rotate freely even when standing still without making your character move. Legacy enables you to run in any direction directly without backpedaling. In standard you will backpedal if you press back/S , OP wants to make it that it will be a strafe backpedal at max speed.

There are other ways to make the camera/movement options still better, it feels a bit restricted like it is atm. Atleast for gamepad users.

I'm not 100% certain back a believe a long time ago it was possible, u basically kept the standard camera and could run backward BUT you had to have the controller plug in and playing with keyboard standard camera.

Whooa, is that so? I don't have a controller, but could anyone with one try testing this out please? It'd be really nice if there was some way to do it!

No. Anytime I create a new character my settings default to standard and it drives me nuts! I don't ever unplug my controller.

I use double-click mouse for forward movement so I've just gotten used to turning the camera in legacy. I can see where some people find it annoying, though.

I would use lock on so much more if my animation for backing up was running the other way while looking over my shoulder rather than a slow backpedal. Might even use non-legacy controls.
