Being a Mentor... (Rant)

For the most part our network is super chatty and friendly. There's some drama from time to time, but not so much that I could see it being considered a lot or even above average.

I'm a mentor and I don't know every tiny spectacle of Eorzea lol. Whenever I need to know something, I just look it up. Because that's basically what mentors are good for now. Looking up things for those that don't wanna bother doing so and want someone to tell them what to do (not talking about the ones that enjoy exploring things first time or those that learn by trying).

My favorite drama was when last week (in the Siren NN) someone kicked another mentor, and mentors then proceeded to argue & kick each other over the kick. I believe it was a revenge kick, followed by a revenge revenge kick.

Novice Network needs to be closed - people can just join linkshells if they want to chat. The mentor system needs to be scrapped. Something more simple should be put in place.

I wish I had Mentors to help or just shoot the breeze. I have no idea what the heck I'm doing in crafting.

Novice Network seems to be working as intended on a World by World basis. Probably 100% in Japan.

Maybe if they make the requirements a lot harder and change the icon from a burger king crown to something else then there would be less people making fun of mentors

I wouldn't say making fun of. People find reasons to be offended/laugh at anything. I've been told to get off my high horse for wanting to keep the chat PG-13... in a T for Teen game with a ToS that covers that kind of language.

It's to bad they don't know that the chat actually needs to be PG, they can be banned for "profanity". You were just looking out for them!

There's a lot of mentor hate out there but mostly on forums, reddit, and 4chan. I never witness any mentor hate in game, and I keep my crown on at all times.
