What people meld has literally no bearing on their ability to complete content, so no, there's no point in shaming them. I've seen people without any melds at all perform better in EX and Savage than people with full melds. It's all about how well you know the mechanics and your job.
No, but I'm more prone to seeing people with no melds at all in savage then ones with the wrong melds.
Obviously, if they do not meld the same way I would meld the same class they bring great disgrace to their families. /s
To be honest, if I just see someone who have actually melded their stuff I am happy.
I don't routinely check the gear of random people I'm running content with, and in general I only care about if a person is performing reasonably in relation to the content they're trying to do, not about anything else. If you're doing well enough, I couldn't care less what you have melded or what food you're eating or which potions you are or aren't using. And then again, even if you have the BiS gear, if you're not performing adequately, that won't help you.
That said, this game has an active theorycrafter community able to figure out the optimal gear for each job, including melds. The optimal setup is not a matter of opinion, but math, and when the numbers are out there, there's no point arguing about it.
If we're hitting enrage and I see you without any melds, I'll shame the heck out of you, you're losing out on literally hundreds of free substats since the game practically vomits materia at you. Even just grade 6s are fine, since you can rip them back out with no chance of losing them.
Shame? No. Not petty enough.
But if it was something completely stupid/useless like putting STR materia on your ninja, yeah I'll make a comment.
I'm not a BiS chaser; it really makes so little difference that it doesn't matter in any content I bother doing. I'm usually just happy if people actually bother putting *anything* in their gear.
I never used materia at all in Stormblood, I just couldn't be bothered. I do use them now though, because I'm interested in the game again.
Shaming should never be the first reaction to suboptimal play. I pity the people who grew up thinking that being shamed is how you learn and improve.
It's pretty difficult to do it wrong now that tanks don't use STR materia anymore. I hope we get some special materia in the future such as xp materia for leveling, movement speed materia for PotD/HoH, reduced item cooldown materia for gathering or materia with a chance to proc double loot from monsters.
Only if its a stat that has no effect on the class they are running, just because it seems lazy and wasteful. And it isn't even shaming, I ask why they have it melded at all.
But mostly no.
