I'm still a Monk main at the moment, but having leveled Samurai and Dragoon and seen what they got compared to how Monk got a fat wad of nothing and saw none of our complaints actually addressed, I'm really considering picking up a Katana or a Spear for the first time in history until they actually do something about the issues people have with Monk. Using Midare twice and Hissatsu:Senei on Samurai are both really satisfying, and everything about Dragoon flows really well now and it feels very satisfying to play.

I’ve been a Bard main since 1.0 (or 1.23 at least lol), but with the changes lowering its overall utility in favour of direct damage I decided to find a new job to main. I went since Scholar since it’s been almost like a ‘second main’ to me since I levelled it in 2.0. My favourite thing about it is making tactical use of your abilities to support the party. Reducing incoming damage, timing instant heals go off at the same time as the enemy’s attacks, abusing fairy placement to strategically place her in areas you normally couldn’t reach (like the Eden:Indunation) platforms, you can place her on whichever one is opposite you so you don’t have to worry about range limitations). Scholar has a much less straightforward healing kit than Astrologian / White Mage, but if it’s abilities are used without any tactical consideration then they feel much weaker than what they’re truly capable of. Like if you just spammed Adloquium or Succor, you’d run out of MP fast and probably have trouble healing. But if you combine them with things Emergency Tactics / Fey Blessing / Consolation / Indomitability etc, suddenly you become capable of healing so much more than if you just used the abilities in their standard form
Scholar has all the fun tools one would expect from a support class, and you can still focus heavily on DPS if you wanted to (even if it is simplified from before).
Also Dancer is definitely a very close second for what I’d consider my ‘main’ lol. It retains a very similar feel to the old support oriented Bard, whilst offering new kinds of support abilities. It really is the perfect job for anyone who used to play Bard for its support options

I came back to the game after a 4 year hiatus. I previously mained NIN and DRG; now, I'm stuck between a few different jobs. Primarily, I've been playing SAM and BLM, but I'm tempted to boost RDM because I haven't given them a try yet (and I love their aesthetic/animations as far as I've seen from videos etc). If there are any RDM mains/people familiar with the job that have any insight, it would be greatly appreciated!

Dropping my two raiding classes Bard and Summoner for Dancer and Black Mage. Bard is perfectly playable and fine, but I didn't play Bard to be a ranger. I played it to be a Bard, and gutting of it's support identity is not something I am pleased with. But it's at least better then Summoner. Outside of the actual act of using Pheonix, Summoner is an unplayable mess for me. I took it through all of Savage on my alt and really gained an appreciation to the very tempo based approach of the job where you would have a nice rush of crazy oGCD work for 30 seconds then go back to the manage and upkeep section where it slowed down for a bit. And with the way the timers worked it gave you the ability to always be in control of your burst so that you didnt feel punished by the boss leaving the field. Much like a roller coaster it had it's moments of rush and it's moments of cool down. Now we have this massive oGCD spam fest with unintuitive timers where I feel more active on Summoner then I do on Bard or Dancer. It's a class that feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be.
Dancer gives me that more support oriented hybrid DPS job where I feel like I'm doing more for the party then just pew pewing. And Black Mage is just a joy to play, kudos to whoever on the design team built that one, because they just nailed it. If Bard can at least get back Foe's that will make me feel a bit better, as long as in future expansions they keep working on expanding the Bard options of the job, not the archery options. Summoner though... Nothing short of an entire revert to how 4.0 summoner worked or an entire rework in general will sell me on coming back to the job.

I used to main Sch since early HW, finally stuck to Whm with Stormblood. I progressed through ShB MSQ with Ast but dropped it due to missing potency (really annoying af to heal big pulls), so for now I'm stuck between War, Smn and Drg! Not touching any healer again because the MP limit threatens me, too (why on earth do I need 10k MP in Sastasha...and have the same amount in Amaurot...whoever did this was most likely not thinking at all).

I played drk through the story and leveled and geared a dancer. I'm currently trying to decide if I want to go back to red mage or continue as a dancer.

I've mained DRG since ARR/HW.
Played SMN on the side till SB. Didn't like SMN in SB and not liking it in SHB either.
Played RDM on the side in SB instead of SMN.
Now in SHB i'll still main DRG but lvling MCH to play that on the side.

Mained SMN and to a lesser extent AST but near the end of 4.x I started playing MCH more since I always liked the job just not as much as SMN.
At the start of 5.0 played DNC for story and switched MCH once finished and I am having so much fun with it. Now lvling SMN and I am having issue getting use to the changes. Having to keep track of ED, TriD, DTW, EgiA1&2, Enkindle, APact, and now having to actually keep track of my mp, it's a lot to manage and get use. I know I'll get better at it and soon won't think much of it but I miss how everything just rolled into one another. AF -> DTW -> AF -> DTW -> AF/Bahamut.
As for AST I have barely touched it as it's healing and DPS are to low atm not to mention it's lack of MP regen. Why is it that SCH and WHM both have abilities that restore their MP while AST is forced to depend solely on Lucid and we can't even extend it's effects anymore to get more MP. Honestly at AST current state I am too scared to play it in any of the new dungeons in fear of failing hard. Also not a fan of the card changes since everything is now just balance, minor arcana feels pointless and divination has a long build up time. Because of all this I have been giving SCH a try since it also allows me to lv SMN and so far I have been liking the job more then I have in the past. It's DPS rotation is very simple but I'm use to that because of AST and I like how you can now actually use SS even if it's just an AF dump. The fairy seems a little weak and I do think they need to return Shadowflare or something akin to it but I have to say I've enjoyed my time with it.
Overall at the current moment my Jobs of choice are MCH, DNC and once maxed probably SCH.

I sure have from caster to Dancer
Have wanted Dancer for a while now so new i would take it as a main. It really has been fun
Still keeping my casters geared up though as a back up just in case

I used to main AST and have dabbled in most jobs, but I've cut it down to DRG and RDM with GNB as my main. I felt like GNB would be more fun for me and I was right so that's what I do now.
