I'd like to see the trust system expanded greatly to include most major story NPCs and class/job quest characters, and then just let you use one at a time as a companion in the open world.

Oh yes, I would love that one.

Absolutely a dog. Dog companions appeared in a few Final Fantasy games and I've been dying to have my own to partner with (not just a minion).

Squadron, complete with the ability to glamour them.

My retainer. Would be nice to have help killing monsters from a furniture-throwing expert. Like traveling with Ignis but instead of recipes you'd find random fish and bookshelves on your way to Mor Dhona.
