Honestly I think a lot of it is more the forums yelling about having to deal with new players.
But even still, with EX content, whatever it may be, it's stupid that you're expected to look it up beforehand.

Just yolo it. For most dungeons and even the regular trials, as long as you apply a small bit of thought, youll pass 90% of the mechanics without an issue. This means you dont need a guide. The only time people really want you to use a guide is for EX/Savage content, or if you are extremely green to a roll.
It's cool, don't worry about other people's expectations. They do not matter. I definitely don't. First time I did innocence ex I did it blind. Same with Titania ex. I don't look up guides. Learn as I go. I told them I was going in blind before we entered, so nobody try to say something about that. I don't think dungeon guides are necessary at all, I actually don't think I have actually looked up one, at least for relevant content. I have looked up older dungeon guides as a refresher though if the party wipes (text).
The only things I personally want from players, is to utilize their class kit properly, example use your aoe combos when needed. I prefer to blind run as well, and I hate video format guides and refuse to watch them unless I really cannot get something down - but that's after trying blind.
If you want to go into a raid blind you should use party finder so that people know you are new and there may be a few wipes. As others have said alts are very common and if you don't say you are new most of us will assume you know what you are doing.
Never seen anyone get mad at not knowing a dungeon though.
If you want to blind run a raid, that's probably something reserved for making a PF. It's not fair on people who want to beat the thing, to have to drag someone through (plus people won't try to explain it to you if you want a true blind run).
Although 24man raids you can probably just wing it
It sucks that you've experienced something like that, but it's usually a good idea to tell your party "I'm new to the dungeon/tanking" before a run. If someone still wants to give you grief over your performance after that then report them and if it continues try to vote/kick them for harassment.
This is a strange complaint to hear, to me. I would love to hear any actual examples of this, and how often you've encountered it, because I think I've only ever seen people get visibly frustrated after someone wipes to something multiple times. Dungeons, in particular, are usually quite simple, so I can't even imagine what you or your fiance are screwing up.
I suspect you and/or your fiancee haven't actually had that many unpleasant experiences, it's just that the bad ones tend to stick out in your memory much more.
If you are doing story trials, unnecessary. If we are talking about extremes via party finder, you should probably speak up. Rather join a practice group, I went into my first ex's blind, but they were practice groups and I did tell them I was going in blind beforehand. Regular content like dungeons nah, don't worry about it.
I don't think that really ends up being a problem of the player going in blind. I could excuse a couple failures to the same mechanic, but several times is a bit much.
Luckily in dungeons I have found that at a certain point, and on certain bosses the healer could be dead the entire fight and it doesn't matter. I did the level 79 dungeon yesterday where both the dps and tank died to the tile boss, and the tank revived outside for some reason and our healer never raised anyone for some reason as well. So he was just solo healing me the entire time, I really didn't understand why this healer wouldn't raise anyone. On the last boss the other DPS died and he didn't raise him at all either. It was a bit odd.
We're not screwing up anything. Because they feel forced to look shit up beforehand to make sure we don't do anything wrong. Because there are so many people on here that complain when someone doesn't know something. Yes, we could say we're new. Yes, we can report people who get pissy in game. But they literally put off progressing until they have time to research because they don't want to deal with people getting pissy.
