Main character voice acting

I will give this a firm No from my part.
I hated that in GW2 since the voices never really fit how I imagined it to be.

In a perfect world where budget allows it, I'd love it. WoW characters actually speak in their /emotes, and GW II talk in cutscenes and when using skills/spells - that said, in both of those cases the characters have a single default voice you can't change, and I doubt a lot of people would like that.
Having only moans, grunts and laughs as our voice can be...boring, but being able to chose our own gives it that little extra something.

Not gonna lie, I had goosebumps throughout the whole cutscene but when Ardbert spoke through us I almost screamed out of my chair.

I say yes give us a voice. I love hearning my character have an actual voice. Dragon Age Inquisition, Fallout 4 had voices for their character and for me it made the experience all the more enjoyable.

If anything make it an optional thing.

At this point? I rather not.

FWIW I liked Nolan North as my character's voice in GW2.
But I knew that was "the voice" from the start and created a character with that in mind.

As for my WOL, they have a voice in my head and had it for years - the chances they'd cast just the right VA are slim to put it mildly and I'd rather not have to deal with the dissonance.

I mean, they did this with GW2 and I didn't enjoy it so much because the voice didn't necessarily match what I felt my character was like in my head.... :/

I would like it if FFXIV adopted a SWTOR style with full voice acting and branching decisions. I generally don't like silent protagonists. Even though the story is about the WoL, it's so easy to actually forget about the WoL's story because he/she never makes so much as a peep. All the stoic nodding can really kill a cut scene since it's the same exact emote being used 10,000 times.

I'd just as soon have less dialog options, or even involvement in a lot of dialog settings. Elf boy (and/or girl) are my mouthpiece. I'm just getting dragged along to blow stuff up. Stop talking to me like I care about any of these problems. All I need to know is what do I need to burn.
