Oh gods yessss. How he talks to and speaks of the WoL shows interest far beyond friend.
To him, you are like... the very reason he continues on. YOu are his "Inspiration" as he puts it.

I was actually really shocked by some of the things the Crystal Exarch said about the WoL. It definitely felt like his feelings were beyond that of just caring for a very good friend, it felt romantic. Especially at the very end after you beat the "final boss", so to speak, and you say "Tis good to see you awake, G’raha Tia" and his reaction to you calling him by his true name... Oh gosh, I lost it. LOL
I was literally not getting anything romantic from the relationship with him. It was more of a hero worship thing, and he cries because you acknowledge him; you remembered him. Don't know why everything has to be sexual.
The people in the future revered the warrior of light, and read all of their tales. They were a legend. He had been dreaming of the WoL saving the day for a hundred years.
Feels like we are a minority around here.
Honestly I'd be fine with this as long as 1) not the only character we have the option to flirt with 2) basically Dragon Age system where you can opt in or out of any romance, and if you do opt in you get cutscenes/exchanges you otherwise wouldn't.
That way no one opposed to romance with an NPC has to do it while people who do want romance with an NPC can go to town with an NPC of their choosing.
Also, for people who are D: because they don't read certain dynamics as romantic--part of the beauty is you have room to interpret as long as you don't opt into romance. Ultimately the way you interpret exchanges with your character is up to you based on the general dialogue, and we all have wiggle room. As long as romance is an option and not a mandate, nothing has to change that. People can read the same moments in different contexts/connotations, and that's okay. :)
I wouldn't want a flirt option, but I dearly wanted my character to give him a hug at the end. Not romantic, just "you've been through so much and it's so good to see you again as a friend".
(That's down to character personality as well, I guess. My other characters might not do it, but Aurelie is the super empathetic one and she absolutely would.)
I did at least get to do it once we were back in gameplay mode after the credits though. Didn't get to see it happen but I have a screenshot of the text "you give the Crystal Exarch a big hug" with the other characters standing around us, and I'll have to settle for that.
It's a pity the music cuts out as you speak to him though. Just as it hit the lyrics "stand tall, my friend" of the final verse too.... it would have been perfect timing if they just let the song play to its conclusion there.
Also I accidentally rewatched it at the inn without ticking the 'reflect quest progression' box... the scene ends so flatly without the "correct" dialogue option available.
I really want more romantic options with the NPCs. Not only with G'raha Tia but for others as well. And even if it is just a Little flirty teasing. Damn you, SE, why didn't you let me show my love for Emet.
I mean I thought of it as romantic in a way but only because deep down I paired him with my MC since the end of the Crystal Tower arc way back in the day.
No. Not every adoration/idolization is about romance, shippers.
