Just started making several pieces of gear around lvl 25 - 35 and they sell very fast I have made close to a million gil in the last week or so. Might not sound like a lot to high end crafters but to a lowbie armourer such as myself its not bad. The big issue for me is the mats there very expense which means I try and farm as much of them as I can to keep the profit up.

I started over twice in the past week and had no issue getting this same set(it is body, waist, and feet) that cost about 250k all together. Not counting my weapon and the other slots.
Once I get about 300+ shards on about 3 different shards I sell them for at least 130 each in the MW. Doing leves also help fill your pockets with gil.
It's not hard to get gil which is why things may look to cost a lot. 50k is like having 5 dollars in this game but if you want gil you do need to put in some effort. It won't just be handed to you like the current trend of MMOs. However it is within your reach and can get it by never touching a crafting tool.
Also are you in Ul'dah? On my server I have no problem with finding lower level gear being sold. We also have 10k pieces on the market

hmmm 50k gil is nothing in this game. do some leves and you'll have that in no time.

For lowbie gear search Ul'dah or just go into the wards and shop at the NPC in the corisponding ward. :)
