To any GM willing to reply to some of these Novice Network questions.

I think both you, and the mentors using the Novice Network as a chatroom are in the wrong. You shouldn't be using the Novice Network as recruiting for guild, nor should they be throwing out kicks like they please (in this case I agree with a kick actually) and use it to talk about anything they want. It should be used in it's primary purpose and that, in my opinion, is to simply help new/returning members struggling or asking questions that pertain to the game, or something in the game (dungeon fight, asking about gear, etc.). Overall, in my opinion the entire mentor system needs a revamp, or a complete removal - leaning heavily on removal.

I posted about a particularly egregious mentor, and novice network interactions in the past and gave this same opinion. Get rid of it.

Just because you never help anyone in the chat does not mean that others do not do that, or maybe coeurl is just a really toxic server.

Tbh, i think each server network has their own set of rule that being greenlight by the community, like in adamantoise, we rarely post A rank hunt into it because ppl will just spam that all day, but S rank and special fate or archivement fate is allow, also we think that posting your recuitment into out NN is rude so we avoid to do it

I think the unspoken rules in my worlds NN are "S ranks are posted, A ranks not (or not really)." "off topic is okay as long as its fairly clean, not too political and sprouts get any and all questions answered" and, just for our special NN "No asking out female mentors, and being creepy". We had a few incidences with that last one from one or two players.

I have never seen FC recruitment in my NN, so it's probably considered rude, but when a sprout asks we usually urge them to join FCs if they have some of their friends in it, as FCs full of strangers can be a bit intimidating.

As someone said above, on Adamantoise we frown upon people advertising their FC’s, and hunts other than S ranks aren’t really advertised.

A lot of the time there *IS* an off-topic conversation going on, but the mentors there are generally willing to drop it long enough to answer a question, whether it be from a mentor, returner, or sprout. A lot of people are also willing to drop what they are doing in order to help someone out as well.

NN is server-made. If you’re on a server that made a crappy NN, then you have a crappy NN. If you’re on a server that early on decided upon rules for etiquette, and tries to keep to those rules, then you have a much nicer NN such as the one we have.

Cactuar’s NN doesn’t really post FC adverts, but they do relink S ranks, sometimes SB A ranks if someone just happens to find one (but generally those are left to the Hunt trains that run every 5 hours, so it’s not very often you see someone post about a non-S rank in there unless they don’t know), and they also link the large FATEs like Odin, Coeurlregina, etc..

I don’t see a lot of kicks from there either—the last time I saw a bunch was when someone was kicking for anyone who used the slightest bit profanity (and I mean “innocent” phrases like “He** yeah!” And “Da** it, my craft blew up”, not profanity directed at other players in an aggressive manner). But they received a lot of grief for it because they kicked several people for something fairly innocent, and I haven’t seen them in the NN since.

most of these are just opinions it comes down to what is accepted and not against ToS and what is against ToS not what we and a mutual handful think. Hence why i asked for a GM input not a player one.

I doubt you'll get a GM one though I do want to say in the Farie server NN thread someone did get a GM response and gave a it's up to the community to chose what goes or doesn't in your NN. Yes, i'm talking about that one person who said that server's NN was full of bullies because they got kicked for spamming FC recruitements and bad jokes.

NN can be an absolute trash fire. I've been belittled for telling people "Can we please not have this kind of talk in NN?" upon the subject of sexual content, racial content and a political reddit tier meme fest.

No fun allowed, passive aggressiveness, the works.

Well if we do get a GM's input then we have it documented instead of speculating and having own rules...
