Well in FFXII there's Fran, Jote, Mjrn, Krjn, Ktjn, Nera, Alja, and Rael. I'm sure I missed a few but they will probably be similar. The 'J' is pronounced as a 'Y'. (Example: Jote= Yo-te) Can't wait to see :)

I meant Viera in XIV :p I do expect the dev team will go for a XII-style naming convention but in XIV, so far, we only know Fran.
Especially since TA/2 was...weirder and didn't seem to have a set naming style for the Viera (Shara keeps the 2 syllables while having 5 letters, Verre and Ruuj are odd because they're named after colors, and Alouette and Valentyne... yeah).
i thought they had the naming conventions on the site. I remember reading something. Like i think for the Viera, they still use J as a Y, and i think both clans use short names, but one clan uses one syllable and the other 2 sylablle. As for the Hrothgar, I think it was regalish names, but The Lost have more umm.. forgotten names, if that makes sense. I tried checking the site to refresh my memory but I couldn't find the races for some reason. weird
I just need the surname conventions, so I can get a name change for my character.
Well, Hrothgar aside, since it would be brand new to my knowledge, the Viera info should be the same as XII, since a good amount of lore is lifted from the Ivalice saga, with only a few minor changes to have it fit into XIVs story. I doubt naming conventions would need to be changed to fit.
I hope they release the naming conventions for both races before early access, so potential nerds like me can burn money on name-changing.
If what the Au Ra got in Heavensward is any indication they should be released a week or two before EA.
13 days still, but I'm starting to get nervous. Hopefully this isn't something they just forgot about. C'mon, I need more than a few days to ponder about a name for my character, I'm the type of person who spends all of the first day of a new game in the character creator. At last we got that in the benchmark.
