When I asked in chat, someone said they give away prizes and stuff like mounts for participating. I didnt wish to miss something this big. But I didnt expect a queue, when they wanted us to all pile into the world like that.

But playing a DPS lately, one gets used to the 50+ waiting line....

They were trolling. There are no rewards or prizes. It was a test to verify server integrity during a very stressful situation.


Also, this is why we do t have a test server. Even when something is literally advertised as a stress test, people say it failed because they didn't get in. They weren't testing to see if everyone could enter the zones. They were testing to see if the zone could be filled to capacity, the server filled to capacity, and the world visit functions overloaded without crashing the system, server, or datacenter, which seems to have been successful.

I don't know about that, some other data centres actually had some issues. Probably isn't a coincidence that it happened at the game time as the NA server test.

I missed Goblin's Ixion. I was surprised it was announced though because we'd shared some of the Ixion FATEs previously and there were no system messages. Ixion still got destroyed really fast and there appeared to be no issues. This obviously won't have had the same reach as the ones with system messages though. We've arguably had similar attendance for some hunts which have gone smoothly as well. I can't speak for other DC or the specific test on Goblin but Crystal in general has shown no visible signs of server issues with the frequently packed crowds.

The queue times are only lengthy in very rare cases, where an abnormally large number of people are trying to congregate on one server for a hunt or FATE. In these cases the queue is most likely sensible so that a similar special FATE in 5.0 doesn't drive more than are needed to one server.

I'd still call the test a success, better for them to find out now that massive server migration and filling a zone to capacity on one server of a DC, can have networking issues for separate servers than the one being taxed.
