As far as last names go, I'd actually be delighted if Viera followed the Scandinavian "<parent's name>son" "<parent's name>dóttir", although the "indistiguishable until 13" part comes along... not to mention it'd mean all Viera at 5.0 release would be "<name> <parent'sname>dóttir"... come to think of it, it's not too far-fetched, seeing as Sea Wolves follow a "<father's name>-<son/daughter>" and Sunseekers females have <tribe letter>'<name> <father's name>, and Moonkeeper males have <mother's full name>'<order of birth>. From the one name we know, Hrothgar seem germanic, which... also used "<name> <father's name>-son"... (EDIT: Color me corrected! Hroths are the Scandinavian ones)
Anyway, I hope when Koji Fox releases naming conventions he mentions both genders', for RP purposes and general world-building. It's not harming anyone or taking development time away fron anything.
I know Viera have a very Icelandic maybe even full Scandinavian inspiration if i remember reading the wiki on Viera and Fran is correct. To the point Fran has an Icelandic accent. So I guess for male viera look at Icelandic names?
Not on the surface. However if SE did release such information, how do you suppose it would be interpreted by the playerbase? I won't shun the intention or genuineness behind the OP's request, but he might need to be reminded that these male Viera starved players will claw at anything that even remotely confirms that the devs are working on releasing them at some point. One could argue that it's just a naming convention for the sake of lore, but it's fuel for the fire regardless. More than likely, that is the reason for the first couple of replies this thread got.
I do want to know what the names are like for the other genders. Since I plan on roleplaying my Viera as a male.
