Because when Ifrit battle was patched into the game, there was precious little to keep people busy. They have been successful in keeping a lot of people busy by making them spam ifrit, using the system they use now (albeit with the addition of totems, which also drop slower than a virgins underwear).Quote:

I made a suggestion a while back about the loot in my blog ^^-
-Introduce a feature where we can trade in unwanted Primal weapons to the designated NPC for totems/nuts or other needed items for future primals. The given amount of items will not equal to anymore then a third the cost to get a new weapon of the same type and higher costing weapons will never have a value more then the original.
Eg. Trade in Ifrit's Lance = 3 Inferno Totems OR 3 Kupo Nuts
Trade in Malignant Mogaxe = 3 Inferno Totems OR 6 Kupo Nuts
This way you can not hope to farm 'easier' primal weapons solely for trade in BUT it will keep the community interested in old primals (and helping those who want old primal items). The interest will remain because even if you do gain a Primal weapon you did not want, you can trade it in for a small amount of another primal's tokens. -

That sounds pretty good to me.
I disapprove of making totems/nuts tradeable that is just asking for trouble both with RMT and greedy players in general. (In this case anyone could PL to 50 go buy some gil and then buy the Ifrit weapon without ever fighting Ifrit)
Personally I would remove all weapons/armor from Primals and Dungeons, incorporate a 100% drop rate on tokens and sell gear/weapons via an NPC. (both WoW and FFXI have this kind of system for some of its loot)
You could have the vendors upstairs in the grand company. -

I somewhat lost hope for my Primal weapons after 35+ wins and only 4 totems...
One thing I always hated with passion from MMOs: stupidly terrible drop rates, Final Fantasy XIV is an elite at that (it's not a compliment by the way). -
