“Play it right” has different meanings for different people. Don’t apply your meaning of the phrase to everyone.
Honestly, the crux of your issues seems to be that you want everyone to do everything they way YOU think they should do it (i.e., by the book; in the strictest sense of “respect the content”). But not everyone wants to do things they way you want to do. Acknowledge that. It will save you a lot of grief pondering the “whys”.
