It could be used when you level up or when you unlock a job.

As long as it isnt release again *shudder* all those fanfares at one *shudder*

I don't think the retro sound fits the game really, but thats just me.

They said they would add them back in but only let you and your party members hear it.

So I'm guessing that is what this is.
