It's been a while and I suck at digging through the past dev comments for the info I'm looking for, so hopefully someone else knows where it was said. I'll poke around a bit, but don't hold your breath.

Only reason I question it, for one, is that I am pretty good about keeping up with that info, and I do not recall this, and secondly, I do not see them releasing AF armor and not the jobs weapons.

On the other hand, the fact that they are using "job stones" and not job specific weapons, does seem to support what your saying as well.

It's possible I'm mistaken. I certainly wouldn't bet my life on it, but I swear I read a dev quote (or some other official communication) regarding it. The job stones are there because you can still use the class weapons while on the job. You don't have to wear a whole new weapon to use a job--I do recall where to find the dev quote for that fact.

The horn was part of the initial concept art for the BRD. It also appears to be on the BRD's belt in that video.

I expect the BRD to make use of that while casting the songs - and I expect the animation to be like that of the Moogles, with rotating musical notes.

In Wuxia, a sword master doesn't need a sword to use sword art. In Final Fantasy XIV, a music master Bard doesn't need a musical instrument to play music.

Would be a HUGE let-down indeed. I want to sing and play instruments, not cast normal spells, otherwise I'd go BLM/WHM. :o

SE has never had a different system for playing songs, doubt SE would do something more elaborate than simple spell casting.
