Like others have said OP make sure you're using the security token or you'll get this sort of situation. That being said if this keeps happening and you are using the security token I would contact customer support and ask if they can figure it out.
Finally a friendly reminder that a security token being registered lets you have a free teleport to any aetheryte of your choosing (not just a reduced teleport). :)
I completely agree but this is not SE's fault. It's the fault of people who hack accounts which then prompt game companies to offer services to increase account security for players.
And you are being dismissive about the issues surrounding hacked accounts. Yes SE are so bad for wanting to make sure your account doesn't get hacked. How dare they inconvenience you by forcing you to do one extra step all in the hope that it will keep the account in the owner's hands? They should just let whoever has login details to use the account regardless of how they got said details.
Thanks everyone, judging by the responses I think I know what's been happening. I did recently go to the SE store to see if there were anymore CE of the xpac available yet and that's probably what happened.
It's happened to me every time I've visited the Square Enix Store, when pre-ordering the Volume II of the book and Shadowbringers, it's a total exaggeration on their side!...
What SE could do to avoid such annoyance is sell to us fingerprint scanners so that players only need to use their thumbs to authenticate themselves when playing the game or using the Mog Station or the Online Store!...
The problem is, is that I've never had to use a security token before to keep my account from not getting locked. I didn't start getting the "suspicious activity" emails from logging into the SE Store until I preordered the Shiva Statue (and I had used the store multiple times before then). I always use the same device on the same network. So why is this suddenly an issue?
Note that it's only the SE Store that does this, and no other service. I took my gaming laptop to both friend's houses and campus before and logged into the game with no issues and no emails about how there was suspicious activity from logging in from a different network/IP. I've also used the Mogstation from different IPs and never gotten dinged for "suspicious activity".
It's annoying, and it just makes me want to order merchandise like OSTs and Artbooks from other websites.
