Is this a legit questions of yours or are you (for some reason thats kinda unclear to me) bothered by people putting a refrence to their partner in their search comment?
Obviously no one has to announce their realtionship status or the name of their partner within a search comment, but some people want to share their happiness in that regards with the world, I suppose. Its not so different from taking your partners name in real life (some people do that ingame aswell though) or wearing your wedding ring (both ingame and irl).
People wear jewelry with their partners name, initials or maybe even a photo - or they have their names inked onto their bodies. Everyone finds their way of communicating "me and [person] belong together" - why shouldnt that include something like a search comment in a video game they enjoy together?
On top of that: for female (characters) it might also help to have their relationship status clear, so they dont get... weird messages. And yes, thats a thing that happens.
I just wanted to make sure I didn't forget to do it if it was something you had to do! Is it mandatory to pay for a name change so that your last names match too? What if his ingame last name is something stupid like "xXStrifexX" or something? Do I have to make that my character's last name too?
I tend to chuckle at anyone that feels the need to comment on their relationships in game.
If its real and true, there's no need to announce it imo. I tend to think they want attention or a cookie for it? idk... /shrug
Will you also make your potential S/O sign a 30-page contract in triplicate?
Im honestly in disbelief that someone is even asking that or that people are trying to claim that someone needs to validate their relationship by updating the info online....
Honestly a piece of virtual text is not a way of confirming a relationship.Never has been and never will.
If you feel this is needed then its clear that there is either relationship issues already or a lack of trust.
A relationship isnt some kind of trophy you need to parade over social media to your mates.
