With a bit of care in the character creation, I think elezen can be really beautiful, at least when they're standing still. But I think elf-like races should also be graceful, and ... well, elezen aren't. I have a female duskwight alt who I ended up not liking all that well because her movements are so stiff and awkward. Her sprint animation in particular bugs me a lot (in part because I see that a lot more while playing than emotes, but some of those seem awkward, too).

Don't despair at the people who insult Elezen appearances. Elezen players aren't as popular as others but we're certainly there. On Coeurl I see Elezen players walking about every single day. It took me a long time to make an Elezen character I liked, but I kept at it because I really wanted a character from every race. Finally, I was able to make one I like, and I love her. I haven't started leveling her yet as she's an alt, and I only just finished Stormblood a few weeks ago as I'm quite new. I've been busy catching up on gear and unlocking optional dungeons on my main, but I'll certainly be playing her when I'm ready to start leveling a new character.
For her character I made her an Ishgardian House Knight who had been serving in Camp Cloudtop in the Sea of Clouds before she was recruited into the Dragoons when a Dragoon saw her skill in battle and well, utter bordem with her post, lol. I think she's great, and I made her maximum height because I always like having a max height female character from every race. Please enjoy your Elezen character, and have fun with being a member of rarer player race. Like others said, there's a certain charm to not having 50 duplicates of yourself running around. :P

Elvaan >>>>>>>> Elezan. Elezan appear identical to Elvaan but lack everything that made Elvaan badass. Elvaan had higher base STR than most races, but weaker magic stats and were natural swordsman/warriors/knights. In XIV, they're more Tolkien-esque and have higher base DEX and are better Archers or whatever. In XI they were arrogant/noble/haughty, more akin to Ishgardian Elezen as opposed to the ones from Gridania. Lore aside, Elvaan had way cooler animations, owing to their physical and martial prowess. They held their weapons with confidence and style, and had more relaxed and commanding stances than others. They even held their guns with one hand, while other races needed both hands. I wish this was reflected more in XIV, but instead stances are rather homogenized between races to save resources (was not the case in 1.0).
