I like the ideas.
Sad that the Dev Team couldn't think this far. Proves my opinion of half-baked content SE releases. Everything is always so short sighted.

This is why nothing in the game outside of BA has a claim system. It doesn't encourage teamwork, just "oh you wanted this? to bad" mentality.
I kinda wish SE would quit trying new stuff. Every time they do it either turns out horrible, (Diadem, Eureka, BLU), or only the "hardcore" fan base like it. (Deep Dungeon challenge floors, Ultimate fights.) Not to mention we lost a Dungeon, Hildabrand Trials (which have been gone since ARR), MSQ Trials like Crysalis (Which I think have been gone since ARR?). I'd rather they work on making the content that does work better. Tying some of the things to the MSQ like 8 man raids, 24 man raids, and the primal fights so that it seems like all the extra stuff we are doing is impacting the world. Let the Devs make more mahjong games in their free time. Of course this is just my opinion so... probably doesn't matter in the long run to SE lol.
The ffxiv community didn't just die, it was MuRDERED. And that's a good thing, here's why.
As someone who has been using Discord to join BA groups, I find this both surprising and a bit saddening that people would purposefully do things like that. The people that use the discord method for forming groups are not elitist at all from what I am seen. I have used it 7 times to get into a BA group and let me tell you, I am the WORST BA player out there. Hell, I have not even made it past the first boss on either side without dying. And yet, even after telling my group that i am bad, they have always made me feel welcomed and encouraged me to just try my best and learn the bosses.
I am on Aether so maybe that is part of it, but I also tend to do the runs in the mornings when many Euro people are playing and I have yet to see any sniping going on. Many in the instance just want to do their own thing and ignore the portals. I think as word is getting out that the discord method is the best way to get a big run, people are not trying to form parties by themselves much anymore.
As for sniping itself, well there is really nothing that can be done since it IS a 'public' dungeon and as someone said, no one owns the portals, first come first served and all that.
Anonymity WILL make people annoying asses.
Hard disagree. I welcome new things, keeps the game fresh. This content isn't for the "hardcore" at all. If anything, it has shown there is a audience for people in-between casual and raiders who want to participate in a large scale instance. This content could have been really fun if it weren't for the portals / instancing. It's been great for meeting new people, networking, and trying new things.
I don't i'd rather they keep trying new things but actually take into consideration how different things are in NA/EU compared to JP as well as refining what they plan to do so it is not coming across as half assed as we keep getting the same tired analogy of The concept is there but the implementation is lacking
Many players don't realize this sadly. They like to jump straight into content, especially if it's their first time. They want to experience it, and then get shocked by the response they get for not being prepared enough or at all for it. This is bound to happen every time new content is released.
Many don't realize it because organizing for any sort of content rarely happens in game. And if those people are not using discord, or reading the official forums/Reddit. Their mentality will mostly likely not change. I wouldn't say that majority are doing it with bad intentions, they simply lack knowledge.
