Airship Content, Bringing Back the Nostalgia & Maybe a Feasible "House" for All (+FC)

Great minds think alike!

Naturally since I created the thread in the housing subforum a few weeks ago, I am totally onboard with it. Would love to see FFXIV better deliver on one of the core tenants of a Final Fantasy series, while also improving the housing situation.

Wow, a lot of really great ideas here. Its a shame something like this wasn't started on back in 3.0 when airships were implemented. It could have started out with a few of these features and gradually evolved overtime.

I like the idea of everyone getting an airship through the story, and being able to upgrade it as they see fit throughout the game. It would really be the lasting content that this game so desperately needs. The FC portion of this seems like a good way to actually give FC's something to work towards as a group.

Lastly, I think the housing idea is genius. Literally the perfect way to implement personal housing, have it in your airship.

The only drawback I see is the technical implementation. Not only will the new airship content have to be added, but maps will have to be redesigned to accommodate them. But hey, we can dream~~

Still waiting for this. Airship is a stapled of FF. It deserves a bigger focus and more player interaction.

It's a necro, but a necro I can get behind. Might I also push for access via airship landings? Give those areas a bit more reason to exist outside of the few instances in the MSQ.

Love dreaming! lol Thank you- definitely agree with you that such systems wouldn't be simply snapping fingers, they'd take a bit of planning for sure.

Airships are such a memorable piece of FF for me, I'm totally agree with you. When playing the single player ones often I enjoy the progression of transportation (that they usually have) and that then final epic moment when you've been granted this freedom and in general piece of content of your own.

Love airships, they're just .. they're just really cool! lol.

Like that AI in Portal 2 on space, SPAaaaceee I'm in Spaceee.. but now it's airships. Airships!! :p

Of course I like the idea too~

Sub forums are a great place to get narrow feedback, but sometimes it's unfortunate as you wont get as much of the community involved. If the GM / CMs have ever commented that they still prefer it that way I'd probably be sure, but currently I just think the chance for community engagement is really nice here. Too bad one can't summon them to ask questions lol. *waves random primal items in the air to summon one*.

I do occasionally update the OP of some of my big threads, trying to get some life in the lich's body lol. I did unfortunately title one of the squadron, chocobo, companion threads in a way that makes it bad to necro, but generally I try to aim them a little timeless. Especially if they do get revived (encourages me to revisit them). When I link to them I tend to make sure as well but I may not add or reformulate ideas as much, and I avoid bumping things unless it has direct relevance to something new. I know I need to modify my chocobo one a bit for the note about Amaro. :3...

Also I do like the suggestion. Perhaps one may even upgrade the airship dock too such that you can spot your airship physically there (if parked there). Might add an NPC with features (shop/tools for your ship) in there to further encourage it. Or have QoL progression, like in the beginning when you dock a ship you get off where? The landing of course! lol, yet later you may upgrade your ship with a tether aetheryte which allows you to connect to a town's min-aetheryte network. QoL upgrades can be part of the longer term progression you can enjoy (as there would be multiple, and they wouldn't be required per say but they'd be nice to earn, and when I say long term I don't mean such concepts are for the super massive wealthy only (although FC side of content may scale differently), just that it might take a little bit of effort). Of course keeping some features in the landing area potentially helping keep value even when you gain an aether tether (or an aether tether pass for that specific city, lots of ways you could think up the concept).
