I think you misinterpreted Urianger's line in the trailer. He said:
"What sayeth Master Matoya? "You can embrace your fate, or defy it. But you cannot deny it.""
He refers to Matoya's teachings of the past - he didn't refer to Y'Shtola.

In french :
Urianger : "What do you say, Master Matoya ? We can accept our fate or defy it, but we can not escape it."
Y'shtola/Matoya : "Escape it ? I have no intention to flee my problems. Until the return of our friends, I will continue to hold on."
IMO SB writing was very meh. IMO HW was very very good detail storywise and built up alot of meaningful storylines. While SB seems rushed and at the same time empty.
I'm looking forward to SHB simply because for some reason the expansions with tank and healer jobs are done much better.
In terms of Master Matoya line, I believe it may be in reference to a title. As we all know Yshtola is on a time clock as she is slowly dying due to the events that happened back at the end of 2.55, I think Matoya sacrifices herself to restore Yshtola's eye sight thus restoring her whole, thus Urianger speaks in reference to her as if she dead in a what would Master Matoya say.
also the trailer isnt suposed to be 1:1 to the shb story, its supposed to get the feeling across to preserve the actual story, unlike the movie highlight style trailers they previously did
I personally love this kinda of story and character development.
