My god you're pessimistic and depressing to read.
If the services you outlined were pheesable they would have done it by now.

Depressing? Perhaps to you, but it's not pessimism; it's accepting the fact that square isn't here to make a good game for me, they're here to sell me a product (which just happens to be a game i mostly enjoy). Retainers are also a product they want me to buy, as well as every mog shop items (multiple times if i want the food) and they want me to buy the premium service for the app to get more storage space. I accept all these facts, and play accordingly.
As for not being feasible, you're right. It probably isn't feasible for SQE right now with their framework.. but this was true of WoW too. The game didn't start with an in-game store to buy the mounts and pets.. but it got there eventually. I have no doubt SQE would want to do this too if they could..
Though, i have to say, you're acting a bit out of shape for what was intended as a snarky joke; Not that i'm acting much better right now, so i'll let you go on with your day.
Honestly that UI looks cluttered but if they gave us another free retainer, chocobo saddle, or inventory page then some inventory problems will go away. Pages, tome upgrades are one use items and no one should be stockpiling those to 99 anyways. However totems and a tackle box for bait I do agree, need their own page or window. This is one of the reasons why I hate fishing and it's mostly to do with the bait taking up my inventory space. They should also remove resistance materia all together.
Not really sure about the rest of the stuff, but I'm all for having some kind of paint box that contains the plethura of dyes available in-game. Even if it's only accessible in certain locations like the Saddlebag, I'd still be fine with that.
I think one of the reasoning they gave at the time to why not such a system is that then they'd have to update it every time a new currency comes out. Which personally doesn't seem like an issue since they should have at least an idea of what's coming within the next expansion, and plan accordingly. And who knows, maybe if they need to take something like this into consideration, they won't be so fast to add a billion types of currency every other patch.
They can't even argue storage issues - say, with the current system you either have the totem of you don't, but for this system it'll always count it. But that doesn't have to be that way, either. They could only show what you have on-hand, with the lone drawback I can think of being that if you do have some spares, you can't get rid of them.
And that's before the fact the beast tribe system already utilizes this exact method, keeping track of whatever currency you unlocked regardless of if you have any or not.
I definitely agree on this system for Ex primal tokens. They're similar enough to beast tribe currency that I think it should have been added a long time ago. At the very minimum, current expac primals should be on this menu (I can understand not including past expac primals).
The normal raid "currencies" I'm still on the fence about, simply because they tend to be held for a short amount of time and spent fairly quickly. Same with the raid upgrade items. The normal mode weapon tokens could be in there, I guess. And Datalogs I wouldn't mind having in the currency tab, since those you sit on for 4 weeks minimum, 8 weeks maximum.
Though I don't personally ever have many primal totems or raid things in my inventory, they ARE a kind of currency so these changes would make a lot of sense - though as people have already said you don't usually hold onto them for too long before you use them.
Mention of a fishing tackle box is why I'm here though - absolutely need one!
Inventory issues, and the clumsy item search facility are two major points that are discouraging me from leveling one crafting job let alone more than one, or even moving on from starter to full account. I have a weaver at level 21 now, and just trying to level it on ARR content alone has eaten up half my space.
Chocobo and retainer storage are a pain to access, and as far as I know, can't be used as a crafting source either.
I'm seriously considering dropping FFXIV and just waiting for the next WoW expansion.
